Why are Pro's Light?

What's up with all the pros being really small and light. THe heaviest pro that i saw at the X-games for skiing was 158. Guess i weigh too much to turn pro, damn

how much do you weigh

im not sure if phillou was in the X games this year but hes not exactly light. i think hes somewhere around 180. There all so light and short because you cant be 6'4 200lbs throwing switch 9s and shit like that

It's that millenium ridiculous flow, I never let go

brothas gettin knocked out is part of my show

maybe it was just the guys who made it to superpipe finals. but others like mike wilson, dash longe, vinnie, and some others are really light. guess it just helps

They,re athletes, and this is a sport that doesnt treat the heaier/taller as nice, thanks to physics and gravity.

brad holmes is a fat ass.

Oh, shit I spelt something wrong? Fuck you cocksucker!

Yeah, its easier to get hurt when your heavier. I was in tip top shape, 192 pounds, completely overshot a landing, landed on flat ice. I was outa skiing for 2 weeks, but i am goin back tomorrow. The dsics in my back got dislocated because of the force of impact. Mike nick is 170, larosse is about 175(i think he's the shortest of the 3 phils as well), but if you wanna go huge, then its easier to get speed when ure heavier, also, u don't have as much hangtime.

now when somebody asks me if i ever decapitated a fetus, i know what to say- My lab partner after a dissection gone wrong.

to anyone whos ever taken physics you would know that how fast you fall dosn't matter how heavy you are. everything falls at the same speed (9.81m/s2 to be exact) but whatever. i think that the reason why most pros are lighter is 'cause they don't need so much strength to absorb impact on ladings. plus when you smaller, the jump look bigger.

no way nick is 170. he is a small guy.

this is skiing.. why should it matter how much pros weigh? oh wait, it doesn't..

Smoking pot leads to uhh... I forget.

alright physics guys: Force = Mass x Accelleration. Since everyone would have the same acelleration when they hit the ground, the heavier guys have to take harder hits when they land cause they have more force, making them fuck themselves up more

i'd say all weight changes in this sport is how fast you can go and your mobility in the air. The more you way the faster you can go. It just takes awhile to reach that top speed. and in the air it seems like a gymnastic type body would flip and spin better than say a body builder.

Yeah, Tanner is super skinny be that doesn't set him back at all, he still rips like crazy. I'm 5'11 170lbs, kinda meaty (not skinny, not chubby, not fat). I have kinda bad knees so it sucks for me.

hey physic's guys, ACCELEration due to gravity is 9.2m/s2. Weight has a big effect but also the size of the person too coz you must take into account air resistance. Believe me i am doing engineering in uni, i ain't passing it but i know the basic's

Two planks are always better than one.

Pete182 is right. Mass plays a huge part in the landing, BUT it has everything to do with volume. Take a pillow that has the same weight as a ball bearing, which will hit the ground faster/harder? If you didn't guess that its the ball bearing, then u are a retard. PPl that weigh 35% more then the pros, don't take up that same common ratio in volume, so therefore they are more 'dense' then a thinner person. That is with the exception of fat, which may reduce the density, but i said i was in tip top shape.

now when somebody asks me if i ever decapitated a fetus, i know what to say- My lab partner after a dissection gone wrong.

and the other dude that gave the force calculation was also right. I have no clue what the fuck the first guy is on.

so they can throw themselves furthur out of the pipe?? 158lbs is a fairly decent weight. I'm 140lbs

height and weight have a deffient effect on the force that the body takes in a crash. the larger or taller the body is applies an increased force to the joints. take even dyvbig for instance, due to his height, and thus an increased lenght of his leg bones his knees take an increaed amount of force. (one is able to figure this out in simple pyhsics. the increased lenght of the forculm (aka leg bone) thus reduces the amount of force needed to lift the other side... which means more force is excerted on the the pivot point (aka the joint which is the knee in this example) which is the reason, in my opinion, why even dyvbig has had trouble with his knees... he is like at least 6'3' and has very long legs. (i was standing next to him yesterday) and everyone else is under like an average of 5'8' (max... im being very generous here) which means there joints take a lot less force on the impact of a jump, let alone casing a jump where the bigger guy with the increaes mass takes a much greater force. and in the case of rotations and flips the increaed lenght of the body greatly increases the force excerted on the joints and the bones. i am not a pyhsics or tech major but i know that anyone who is can support the above statements with formulas and calculations.....
