WHY ARE MEDIA TITLES IN ALL CAPS NOW

am i the only one who's voice in my head actually yells out the name of a pic of video on ns because they're in all caps now??

This was our designers suggestion. We liked it and ran with it, but I can see what you mean.

If enough people vote that they hate the caps we can try changing it.
 
By having the title in all caps, it becomes more distinct from the other elements and helps establish the visual hierarchy of the page.

A title in all caps also forms a consistent solid line that works better as a graphic element than titles with lowercase letters.

However, because an all caps title does not have the variability that lowercase letters have, the title can be harder to read since it blends together as a rectangle.

So basically you have to choose between legibility and visual balance. I think that all caps titles work best when they are short and that long titles should be in title case (capitalizing the first letter of every major word).

It'd look kind of akward though if it was different for each one though right?

I'm all for making some tweaks if you had a vision for something that might work better?

Right, they all should be the same. I think that since the majority of the titles are short, all caps works the best in this case.
