I was cleaning up my room, and in the bottom of my desk I found some NS "My skis cost more than this car" (as well as "I'd rather be skiing" etc). So I was wondering if anyone actually paid more for their skis than their car?

Mine do. I got a '91 Buick Regal, and my '07 Line Anthems cost more than that car.

my first car had that bumper sticker, right beside SKI NAKED.and yeah it was $75, With a $1400 roof rack set up and often over 2g worth of gear up there.

i've never heard anybody say there skis are more expensive then their car, but i can say my bike is more expensive then my car

My skis aren't quite as much as my car, but hell, both my bikes alone are a little less than double the cost of my car. However, my Hellbents and Invaders combined, are worth more than my car is worth.

i've been on the same purple AR5's for so long now....

primarily BECAUSE of my car haha

so they were like 500 or so? vs. a $26,000 car

closer match would be my 98' ford ranger!!! (the winter beater =] which i picked up for a cold G)

This is kind of like one of those math problems. Find out how much one of his bikes is worth.

Anyways, combined, my skis cost more than what my cars currently worth. 2000 Grand Prix (worth somewhere nears 1.5 g's) and a pair of invaders, pair of addicts, pair of suspects.

i had a pimpin' subaru that was worth more than anything else i ever bought... then i hit a rock wall and totaled it three days ago.

oops.

sadly its close. if you take what i could sell my car for. vs the money i payed for all my skis, skis might just pull out on top.

My 3 pairs and bindings cost at least 2 or 3 times what my car is worth. Add in all my gear and it's probably like 5 or 6 of my car....

If you include boots and bindings and skis, then yes, $900 car vs $580 skis, $180 Bindings, and $225 boots. It's not by much, but I did get good deals on all my equipment (retail its WAY over).

Yep, my bike is worth about 3 times as much as my car. My entire ski quiver is probably worth about the same as the car.

I often think this same thing, I have a 91 buick lesabre, so yeah, skis def worth more. Same with my bike. My friends ask why i dont just get a better car instead of other stuff, they dont get it.

skis $500, mazda 626 station wagon 1990 i could sell for about $200. so my skis cost moree than my car!

we had to sell the car that would have been mine. 2000 chrysler town and country for $500 (all the parts were worth) and my 2 pairs of skis, boots and 2 pairs of bindings are worth about 1000

my old chrysler was worth $600 with about $1200 worth of body damage on it. Everything i owned cost more than that thing....until i totalled it, now i have my toyota thats worth about $5000, so all my gear combined is about the same.

My car costs about 3000

anthems + bindings = 400ish

Bacons + bindings = 600ish

Boots - 500ish

Ski gear- 200ish

Pass- 700ish

All my ski gear probably costs about the same as my car...which is insane to think about.

quiver + boots: ~2500

2001 saturn s-series: ~1200

having all the pieces you need to get to the hill and shred: priceless

i bet the amount of money i've spent on ski gear in the last 3 years is much more than a beater truck i have

Lets See some pics!
Here is my first car, 83 celica $75. All my skis at this point were probably worth over 3 grand. Also my first truck, specifically for urbans. $400 and it had a coat hanger as the antenna.

Like, you can afford a case of beer to put in your rape van for better raping times or, you are going to trade your rape van for a case of beer?
