Whose ridden Jp vs Juliens?

I rode them my post is in your thread on TGR. By the way there soft, great for jumping of cliffs and shit. If you want a super stiff ride go for the ANT.

lol bro u still deciding?? just go for the JPs youll love em stop worrying start skiing

How is the 188 in the tight stuff. I'm 5'9" and I'm debating between the 178's and the 188's. I really want them to shred in the trees, but I'm a little concerned about the length of the 188. Or does the super high tail make the running surface pretty short? Anybody?

soft? this years are stiff, i'm flexing a pair as I type, and they are the lightest big skis out there, but have little side cut, I mean they aren't 2x4 stiff, but they should be fun to ski on.

They are not stiff. At all. And this years are the same as last, apart from the 90 degree sidewall and black base.

I'm 5'9" and have last years 188. They aren't the easiest in the trees, but I don't really have a problem. I have 179 pistols which are obviously better in the tight stuff, but the JP vs Julien is a superior ski for pretty much everything else I do. If you are consistantly skiing tight trees maybe go shorter. And yes the massive rear tip makes it ski 2-3cm shorter than a regular twin.

so if you were comparing 178 jps to 179 seths, which do you think would be better overall? i havent ridden either ski, yet i am interested in both as a pow ski addition to my slowly growing quiver haha

I was thinking kind of along those lines too. I ride Line Mo'ships in 182, but I want something a tad bit wider to destroy pillow lines and shit up at Brighton. I want a wide, but quick ski for everyday. I LOVE my Lines, but I wanna go wider.

178? Well I can't really speak from experience, but I'll tell you what I think. Because they are shorter they will be more maneuverable than the 188s and the pistols because they are lighter and have a shorter effective length. On groomers the 179 will be more turny because of the sidecut, and in pow the 178 will ski straighter and probably float a tiny bit better. However depending on your height and weight as well as where you mount them (on the 188 -2 from suggested is the money spot)you may experience a little bit of tip dive.
