Who's the bester rapper in the world?

i got the lyrics off some website and wasnt paying attention now that i see it that website is retarded but seriously he goes from killing someone to playing hockey to being a boxer to having it be halloween hes just throwing things together the lyrics themselves make sense alone, but together it sounds like tourrets guy just throwing shit out there

god when i read the title i was like, "this is not gonna be good".

anyway Vinnie Paz, hands down. give up trying to find another its vinnie paz. or Ruggedman, maybe RA, yeah RA.

I like this guys thinking

I dunno about the best in the world but heres some of my favs
Madlib and all his alter-ego's
MF DOOM
J Dilla
A Tribe Called Quest- Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammed (spelling is terrible) Phife Dawg
Jemini
Gang Starr- GURU and DJ Premier
Danger Mouse is a sick producer
respect for the beastie boys for being around so long and always keepin it clean
Mos Def Talib Kweli

then the classics
Dre, Snoopy Doggy Dogg,

just a correction to this guy. premo doesnt rap for Gangstarr, hes just the producer. your thinking of guru.

no hard feelings, just trying to get the right info out there so people stop listening to all the crap rap thats out there and get into some good shit.

obviously mims and j-kwon

immortal technique, gang starr, jayz has some dece ones, 2pac, nas, etc

thank you for saving me the time to wright that. Its honestly not that hard to get and its a sick verse and song (upgrade you), its just because their hating is closed minded and therefore they only hear what they want.

Sure, each line has a metaphor. They're metaphors about death and being a G and whatever. Fucking retarded ones at that. Lil Wayne is fun to listen to when you're bombing down the slopes or pumping beats in the car, but for musical sense and talent he has virtually none.

Plus...they don't even match up to each other in a theme. It's not a verse unless all the lines are connected in some way. Which they really aren't.

Lil wayne is NOT hard. Lil Wayne doesn't write his own rhymes. Lil Wayne doesn't write his own beats. Basically, Lil Wayne is a figurehead for the record company.

fuck lil wayne... hes a ''musical whore''

i'd have to say vinnie paz, stoupe the enemy of mankind, gza, raekwon, tech n9ne, inspectah deck and method man kill the shit

Where is the rule book where this is stated?

and weezy doesn't wright his rhymes you're right, he usually just freestyles them once he's in the booth.

^^^ completely obvious too because weezey's lyrics suck dick

maybe he should write them ( not wright ) before he gets in the booth.

although, it would still probably suck dick. aka suck loli loli loli pop dick

AHAHHAHAHHAHAH that's a joke

Poetry, which rap is based off of, has a theme. GOOD rap normally is more poetic and has more flow and more of an intelligent vibe to it than, say, a drugged out fake jackass saying how cool he is.

well that's your interpretation of what you deem to be "good" rap. The problem is "good" in this context is purely subjective. This means that what I think is "good" depends on my personal taste and what you think is "good" depends on yours. Therefore, everybody can have their own answer to the question posed in this thread and they will all be absolutely correct.

none, they all have little to no musical talent. They have someone else make their beats and they rap about shit a third grader could come up with. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but in general, they are all terrible.

On a side note, the culture of white people acting like "gangsters" that the rap revolution has created is one of the greatest drains on today's society. Its created a entire group of young people who have no real grasp on society and will most likely end up as fuck ups. Hate all you want, but emulating rappers in any way definitely does not add any value to any person. Especially when looking at career potential or intellectually, being immersed in rap culture provides no value.

There is music that is considered to be "the best" in all genres. Bach's Chaconne is considered to be one of the most beautiful and most difficult movements in all of classical music. Joe Satriani is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time because he had a great combo of technicality and awesome-soundingness. From what I see of lil wayne, he only has one aspect of that: the beats are sick. Very sick. His lyrics on the other hand simply can't compare in technicality nor intelligence with many of the other rappers, and he can't rap at the level that the best can. He can barely rhyme.

But, he can freestyle for sure, and he does have his moments. however there are much better rappers out there, no way can he compare in lyrics or beats to many.

come on sarah! aesop's lyrics are poetry, and references to fables, hence his name. Aesop is actually one of the best freestylers in the world

Immortal Technique, Nas, Jay-Z, Fabolous, Tupac.

Lil Wayne is a piece of shit. For granted, he's a great rapper on some songs. But others, he sounds like a coked out homeless bum. Not to mention he rarely writes his own shit, and when he does they barely make sense. You wanna know why it took forever for Tha Carter III to come out? Because he knew it couldn't live up to the hype he pushed it with. "Lollipop" is only really great because of the beat and the hook. Lyrically? Its average. "Got Money"... sure it's a decent club/party song. But it's so boring and unoriginal. Beats like that got played out while they were being written. T-Pain really should just stick to singing hooks on songs. For every decent song he Produces, he produces 10 pathetic ones.

exactly, u want a dude with some dope rhymes AND he's like in his 40's now and still pwning the mic. ooo doomzy how i love u so

and FINALLY thank you dude. i always hear ppl complain about how producers just steal samples and that synth nd shit is the way to go. fuck that. the hip hop culture was born from sampling jazz and shit like that. im not a fan of kanye west, but i do respect his production style. ppl give him shit saying he just takes old music. thats part of the culture. a lot more ppl sample than many people think. u got some of your best producers like pete rock, primo, madlib, jdilla, rza and they all sample shit. of course they add some other stuff too to enhance it a little more with keyboards but it all goes together.

u got these lil jon songs which take no musical skill at all to make. "make that high hat go do like 32nd notes or some shit and itll make it sound extreme, oh em gee". he used a sound that sounds like a horn.

in my opinion, at least in the case of production, its about bringing old music back to life. and the more obscure it is, the better. producers can chop up samples and make them sound way better than the original. when i make beats, its about showing people the music that didnt get the recognition it deserved back in the day. you got groups like magnum, galt macdermot, david axelrod, who also stayed true to themselves and didnt even get caught up in the music industry 40 years ago. my influences aren't the popular artists, my influences are the skilled artists, and even more, the skilled artists who followed their own path and didnt get chained down by the record biz that has been so cruel to evolution of music

end confusing rant.

Thes One and Double K from people under the stairs are DOPE

Cormega, AZ, Murs, Sunspot Jonz from Living Legends... all of these emcees kick weezy's weak ass lyrics and raps in general.

and big

When I die, fuck it I wanna go to hell

Cause I'm a piece of shit, it ain't hard to fuckin' tell

It don't make sense, goin' to heaven wit the goodie-goodies

Dressed in white, I like black Tims and black hoodies

God will probably have me on some real strict shit

No sleepin' all day, no gettin my dick licked

Hangin' with the goodie-goodies loungin' in paradise

Fuck that shit, I wanna tote guns and shoot dice

All my life I been considered as the worst

Lyin' to my mother, even stealin' out her purse

Crime after crime, from drugs to extortion

I know my mother wished she got a fuckin' abortion

She don't even love me like she did when I was younger

Suckin' on her chest just to stop my fuckin' hunger

I wonder if I died, would tears come to her eyes?

Forgive me for my disrespect, forgive me for my lies

My babies' mothers 8 months, her little sister's 2

Who's to blame for both of them (naw nigga, not you)

I swear to God I just want to slit my wrists and end this bullshit

Throw the Magnum to my head, threaten to pull shit

And squeeze, until the bed's, completely red

I'm glad I'm dead, a worthless fuckin' buddah head

The stress is buildin' up, I can't,

I can't believe suicide's on my fuckin' mind

I want to leave, I swear to God I feel like death is fuckin' callin' me

Naw you wouldn't understand (nigga, talk to me please)

You see its kinda like the crack did to Pookie, in New Jack

Except when I cross over, there ain't no comin' back

Should I die on the train track, like Remo in Beatstreet

People at the funeral frontin' like they miss me

My baby momma kissed me but she glad I'm gone

She knew me and her sista had somethin' goin' on

I reach my peak, I can't speak,

call my nigga Chic, tell him that my will is weak.

I'm sick of niggas lyin', I'm sick of bitches hawkin',

matter of fact, I'm sick of talkin'.

ok, really, i like weezy, i do, he's got some good catchy songs. really, i do, i have a bunch of his stuff. but as a rapper, his credibility is none. honestly. he spits out commercialized BS for 14 year old girls (lollipop, sweetest girl, make it rain, gimme that, etc...), and raps about the same things over and over, trust me i own a ton of his stuff.

Pac/Biggie, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, KRS-One, Mos Def, Lupe, GZA, Rakim, Ghostface...thats hip-hop fellas

point is ya gotta be at least a little bit socially and/or politically concsious with your rhymes, hip-hop is rooted in poetry, culture, and creativity. not money and hoes.

Rakim is definitely up there and GZA, , AZ, del tha funky homosapien, and mark 7, chali 2na, and akil from Jurassic 5

waynes got good lyrics and i have all his music and i defend his music all the time to my friends, but hes definitely not the best roffll. maybe jay-z.. but i have problems even with his music, it's all repeatative now...

theres absolutely no correct answer or way to justify your response well enough because theres always other people putting out good music, so just rep all that shit hard. everyone talks about mac dre on the same standard because he was just hitting his most ballin tracks before he got shot and flipped his car, but i dont agree with that either though that HE was the best, although i love and appreciate his music for what its doing for the bay area scene. NICKATINA THOUGH MAYBE? i dunno to legitimize myself in that argument... hes got so many clean / well done / and shit, even classy rap tracks that i can always listen to. he's so fuckin filthy, agreed?

longevity in the rap game i think has a lot to do with this question though and quality of music increasing overtime etc and not sounding bad / redundent or corny cuz you're gettin old and cant still be rappin about cars and sluts. in that sense, DREE because hes still.... so.... so filthy, i hear shit he produces and i can immediately tell it's his beat, everytime... people way into music know this for fact, always. and now hes 1) a producer of tons of other peoples music helpng bring it to a higher standard, HIS..... 2) he's still making his OWN music and it's all fire. and i'll await the detox to continue.
