Sad i didn't find this thread earlier... anyways moved out to oregon this summer and already got 5 days in and its only October! gonna be a hype year cant wait.

That's great you got five days. How are the ski bases? See you at Bachelor when the lifts open. I'm a soft core that won't hike snow! ;-)

Ahh I went with the Nitro Pass this year so I'll be at Loon mostly this year but got the Cannon pass last year and came to fucking love it.

Cannon has a reputation on the EC for being super icy and super steep, which IMO is slightly undeserved, but somewhat true. There is one main run/intersection that funnels everyone together to get back to the lodge so it typically gets scraped off pretty immediately. Everyone has to ski this 100 yard patch multiple times a day (and it does suck) which I think is where the reputation comes from. I'm still on the newer side to skiing (6 years now I think) and riding Cannon as my home mountain last year CERTAINLY made me a better skier.

Other than that..

- I skied about 20 days there last season and I would say I waited in lift lines for a combined total of 15 minutes all season. Not joking. Even on the busiest Saturdays, I could ski right to the chair on basically every run. Most jerries will go to Loon or Waterville and being that much further up 93 helps too

- Parks are pretty average IMO, but they had a small 5 jump line for most of the season last year that was pretty fun.

- The overall "vibe" of cannon might be my favorite part. It's a total family mountain and you can tell. No fancy lodge or equipment and not too many hardo-douchebags. Its owned by the state of NH and prices are still really good.

I have more friends that ski Loon regularly and the new Nitro Pass was too good to pass up for me (also spend a lot of time at Sunday River) but I certainly plan on doing a few day trips to Cannon, especially when there's fresh snow.
 
Saw the first snowflakes here in Grand Rapids today. All we need now is a few nights with sub 28 temps to turn guns on.
 
Bought an Ikon pass yesterday. I get a Waterville pass for work, but flying to CO in January and will hopefully use most of my days at killi and sr after waterville closes
 
Nice! I went a few times several years ago while the snow was really good, and had a blast. The smaller crowds are whats drawing me back to Cannon, I think It will help me feel more comfortable getting back into things, especially when It comes to park skiing.

Plus the NH resident season passes are surprisingly cheap.

Whose mountains are open now?

Mine just opened up last Friday with a carpet and tiny chairlift on the bunny hill with purely blown snow.

Thinking about going on Saturday tbh.

I don’t even know how I’m gonna handle wearing boots that fit my feet great and are just comfortable in general. Seems like skiing will become much, much, much more enjoyable. And I will be skiing on my new on3ps. Fuck yeah.

You guys are gonna be so hyped on your purchases. I skied yesterday and by the 5th run I felt more comfortable in a new pair of boots than Ive ever felt and they were ripping. So much more control + power. Best purchase of my life.
 
Just got my Cannon pass

First season pass in like 4 years, and potential snows in the forecast next week. Hyped for once.

these boots are def gonna give me a better season , after two days I can’t believe I spent as many years as I have w/o proper boots , best thing is , no fitting needed , like warm powerful gloves right of d box

Just got back from my first day of the year, skiing a small halfway lift at Alpine Meadows on pure blown snow. It was great but I was skiing like shit. Pumped for actual snow to get going at Tahoe this week!

I've made some enemies on here over the years ;)

but yeah, looks like tahoe is getting some good snow coming this week finally. hopefully the hype is real about that.

What’s over here is pure blown that’s three days rain packed into ice but it’s still so awesome to be skiing , woke up to a dusting this am gonna shred that in 4 minutes here

I find no matter what I say I get downvoted I’ve made a few enemies as oh well ??‍♂️Some ppl just downvote or upvote cause it’s their buddy or someone they don’t like
