Already posted this photo, but here are some pics of the park I built at Smokey. It's the lowest snow year in Lab in 20-odd years. That being said, it's been snowing all day and yesterday, so I think this weekend will be the best yet. I'm planning to improve the landings on the park features and built some swervy hips, boobs, berms etc. Also putting in an order for more small-medium features from Coastal Jibs.
We're open Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, but I'm working on trying to open Wednesday and Thursday nights too especially now the park is done.
We're under pretty strict COVID protocols, so no lodge or lessons at the moment. Thankfully we can run the lifts again now. For a couple weeks we had to shut down completely. There's 2 J-bar platters with self-launchers, so no lift attendant needed on those. There's also a quad chair and magic carpet. If you do a 10 minute hike from the chair then traverse, there's a few really great 30-45 degree alpine turns.
There are some solid die-hard shredders up here, but most people here are novice-intermediate.
Despite the low tide conditions, the snow quality is really good. Hardly ever feels icy, except where there's water running near the surface. No snow making will do that.

1-4 foot base. Usually when it snows, it's accompanied by excessive wind so some spots will be pretty bare and others filled in nice. There are big areas of bare rock too.
In the park there is bare ground in a few spots where people always speed check lol. I used every bit of snow available.
There's one section of cliff band that is a pretty rad big mountain zone with some short, steep technical lines. There are some really dope glades where the snow is always good, and some mellow to steep-ish groomers fun to rip turns on. Very good all-round terrain for a small mountain.

Sounds like a fun resort, park looks pretty legit I'd probably have a better time in that than Wentworth's park.
Currently sick coverage up at Wentworth so glade skiing has been money, some big lines finally filling in haha. Also good BC conditions but sticking it out in some longer lines at the mountain has been worth it, the last few times I've been up the snow has been a bit crusty but super good to go with no one skiing the woods at all, I don't know what they are all doing - I watch all the race dads clacking past the parking lot with their Head Kore touring set up or some tech kit they bought online, it's the new trend but I guess they are mostly skiing down on piste. Overall season is going really well, some of the new stuff they put in at the hill for Covid actually just makes it way better like an outdoor bar / beer garden area with picnic tables, it's got a euro vibe

I like the sound of it! Was on a call recently with their manager and she said the port a potties are filling up fast lmao. Glad people are out shredding. The trees there are money for sure. There are some dope drops scattered through the woods. I always wonder if and where all those touring setups get used in NS and NB. I find Wentworth usually has some cool features. Orchard is rad, but then they set stuff up sometimes that's a huge wtf. Kinda sucks we can't do any interprovincial travel rn. I'm too remote/busy for it to make sense anyway but it would be cool for the maritimes gang to be able to meet up. Have you met some of the boys there? I remember Pat and Kibbles then there are some younger kids who rip.

Oh yeah lots of fun drops, only just able to hit most of them now since the base has set up proper. I pretty much just do woods to Orchard park, but yes they still put in some WTF danger set ups, blind take offs, rails barely dug in / unmaintained and a serious lack of fun progressive features, they have tons of nice flat rails and stuff they never put in properly and don't build any creative jumps, it's just 10ft table and next step up is a 30 foot step down with a flat landing.
I know most of the park shredders pretty well, I don't get to ski much with most of them though because they are all pretty involved in the programs, coaching and training, not many pure freeskiers at the moment. Pat is on the park crew and Kibbles is one of the head coaches although he just broke his collar bone.
