Or kids who slacked in college ;) but honestly a bunch of the guys I came in with have associates/bachelors, using the GI bill to get their masters.

Marine Infantry, for those who eat crayons... like my self

Ya may not be the brightest, may not be to most classy, but you're generally accepted as the most badass.

And if they didn't want you to eat crayons, Crayola wouldn't give the colors such tasty names, right!?

I'm training with the Canadian Coast Guard! But we're part of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans rather than militarized so I'm not sure how similar we are to the USCG. Right now we're going pretty much nonstop - I'm headed up north on one of the icebreakers in a couple weeks - but once I graduate I'll only be working 5-6 months of the year so it should be a great time.

I laughed at this

Well, im Swiss which means I need to serve the military for about a year.

I had my recruitment... turns out will be a "Air-defense soldier STINGER" (pretty much the one who shoots down the "bad guys" planes aka lock-on-newb).

But im looking forward to it. :)

Damn, even when there aren't any conflicts, you are required? That's kind of fucked up.

when is there ever no conflits

Right now. Aside from special forces and like 2,000 deployed troops, the U.S is in peace-time and most military members are just training daily and mopping up the rain.

I'm talking about America, boi. We are involved in very very little fighting right now.

We'll be involved in a whole shit-ton of war in about 6 months after one of those retards get elected.

If i fuck up enough

you better believe I'm going to be running for a CAS pilot spot in the marines

or green berets just because I like the concept of providing a village with smiles and food before killing all their males of fighting age :)

Well it's not like we are useless. Every guy goes to recruitment school for 12 weeks to begin with. After you continue in your choosen job till you served your time (2 weeks a year till... 35 I think). So they contact you when your job is needed. But yeah... the swiss military is everything but serious! haha

Canadian army, nearly 7 years in, and will be leaving once I return home, and hopefully a RCMP gig somewhere in BC. Ironically, military was one of my best choices to make for skiing, I get a shit ton of free time to go skiing, and actually laid down my skis for a while for the opportunity to climb mountains.

Currently on the CCGS Terry Fox and waiting to see if I'll be transferred while we're in refit. Unfortunately 75% of our Nfld region vessels are also in refit/layup so I'll probably be tied up in St. John's until Christmas.

It sounds like I'll probably be transferring to the Western region after Christmas.
