Who's a hick/redneck?

obviously, you have no idea about atlanta, or georgia. Considering the metro area of atlanta is in about 15 counties. I guess all the black people in the ghetto in dekalb county are rednecks since they dont live in fulton county. Or, like everyone I know from gwinnett county with a few exceptions is def not a redneck. Well done trying to act like an area that you obviously have no clue about. Especially considering everyone from atlanta is from the north, or their parents are from the north.

i'm from vermont but i don't crush bud heavy's and shoot leaf peepers and have like 400 semi-functional cars in my yard

i listen to maylene & sons

they are siiick

same as the showdown

southern rock is incredible

I was born in Los Angelos (thousand oaks to be exact)

lived their until i was 8

then moved to suburban maryland (30 minutes north of washing DC)

I ski and surf and love my 12 week-old golden doodle

my favorite kind of music is punk rock and i own around $3000 in guitar equipment, another $800 in drums

so..

i guess i'm a red neck

that matters why? there is a professional bullrider who is black. then again, he's the only one.

i dip, drink beer and whiskey like its a job, wish i could drive a truck (can't put fuel in a diesel), work at a rifle range, but i don't think that anyone who skis enough to go on this site is a redneck

Nope, not unless you own a confederate flag. Then you are redneck. Do you own a confederate flag?

Oh.. why so serious?

the metro area of new york includes like half of jersey, but that doenst mean shit. there are plenty of hick ass areas in the new york metro area. i have been to atlanta and have seen the area around it and it can get really hillbilly like once you are outside of fulton.

I currently live in Brooksville, FL.

I grew up around guns.

I drive a truck, and my mom drives an even bigger truck.

I live on 20 acres of land that used to be an orange grove.

I have 5 horses, 1 longhorn steer, 6 dogs and a bunch of cats.

I used to show horses - not rodeo or anything though.

Would I consider myself a redneck or hick? Not at all, because I have all my teeth and I have class.

Rednecks are the ones with class, everyone is confusing redneck with hillbilly/hick. Rednecks are generally middle class and dont fuck their siblings, hillbillies and hicks are poor and fuck their siblings.

well I hate you if you hate rednecks. hate's a strong word... I don't like you and we can never be friends.

to the rest, thanks for making this entertaining. and to the rednecks... Git-Er-Done! haha

seriously though, I consider myself middle class redneck. it goes Redneck: upper(got the money, just can't spend it properly), middlejust (a good ole boy) , poor (you're gonna fix those cars and sell em), hick (live in podunk), hill billy (ain't got none dem fancy picture tube thingys and think yer sister's kinda cute)

or you are what you are... fuck I don't know. *pours a drink*

fuck timmi.

I am not redneck at all but I have a rediculously redneck friend who drives illegally on back roads and takes us to awesome places to go mudding and drink beer.

it's my day off and i've been smoking all day. trust me, i had a blast writing those posts and an even better time reading the responses. it's fun to just throw dirt in people's faces, while having a serious message at the same time. most people miss the serious message, though, and just focus on the shit i talk, so fuck 'em if they can't take a joke and see the message i'm trying to get across. at the end of the day, the joke's on you, so i couldn't really care less if you pick up on it or not.

Ns can't really discern from hick white trash which is ubiquitous throughout impoverished rural areas north and south and even midwest and west for that matter and Southern Gentility that encompasses certain aspects of "redneck" culture while excluding others...for instance Southerners from Old money, educated or esteemed backgrounds enjoy the thrill of the hunt just as their ancestors have for centuries, does that make them redneck? I don't think so, keep in mind these same southerners that enjoy sweet tea, hunting, Civil war history, and fishing, also are members of Augusta National Country Club, send their children to the best prep schools and have more money and class and civility than most people on this site.

Just because someone is from the south, doesnt mean they are stupid, inbred, hicks. I would go as far to say the average upper middle class to wealthy southerner is alot more cultured and refined than your average rancher in Steamboat Springs or city dweller in Hartford or Rochester NY.

Most of my friends enjoy hunting, trucks, mudding, college football, but at the same time can dish out political rhetoric, come up with articulate arguments, and tell you which utensil to use with each course in a dinner, alot better than the average teenage punk on this website.

You people from the south are always trying to prove something. you are always trying to be accepted as a normal section of the country, but you need to face the facts. you cant change your heritage. you had slaves, you were racist pieces of crap, you still are racist pieces of crap, you failed trying to start your own country, you even have a rock similar to mount rushmore with confederate presidents. Everyone from the south is also obsessed with the civil war. you act like it was bigger than wwi and wwii combined. and obviously, your rich friends living off of old money are going to act more refined than us yankees (as you would say). its all they can do to prevent them from sounding like hillbillys. people in new york dont care how you talk or how polite you are. if you are rich here and have a huge brooklyn accent, then no one here cares, but most southerners are going to think that theysound rude and obnoxious. notice how i didnt use much grammer and big words like you. i am not trying to prove any thing to you or anyone else on this site. you probably took 10 minutes to right this, trying to think of the biggest words possible trying to impress everyone, thinking that we will think that you are a southern gentleman with a private toutor, who drives an old cadillac.

Ohhh so the North in the 1860s was completely immune from the scourge of racism? Oh hail ye tolerant northerners.

Your post contained so many historical and cultural fallacies I don't even know where to begin. I hope you know only a small percentage of the southern population in the 1860s had slaves, the majority of southerners were simple small land owners who had no use or means to tend to slaves. The civil was indirectly fought over slavery, rather the main cause was the unfair economic and social treatment the federal government levied onto the South in the form of unfair taxations. The north was as racist if not more racist than the south you belittle in your post above, the abolitionist movement was a fringe movement at the start of the civil war and most northerners were far more concerned about how they would be able to sustain their mills with cheap southern cotton if the south were to secede. They were far from the noble northerner you might read about in a revisionist history book which have infiltrated history curriculums. The average northerner at the time had no interest in dying over slaves.

Southerners are obsessed with the civil war because we like to hold on and honor our heritage, similar to how most Irish in the Northeast like to cling to the Irish roots as a sense of identity. The reason the North has such a huge inferiority complex when it comes to the south is because you know the values we hold such as personal honor, self determination, and chivalry are completely foreign notions to your kind. I'm glad there is still a sense of class distinction where old money, good taste are valued and where the nouveau riche are scoffed.

In regards to the "Confederate Mount Rushmore" you describe, its actually called Stone Mtn and its 10 minutes from my house. If you actually had a firm grasp of history and knew what you were talking about you would know that the confederacy only had 1 president, Jefferson Davis. The engraving on Stone Mtn, which is actually larger than Mount Rushmore, and is the largest rock engraving on earth depicts Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Robert E Lee on horseback.

There is nothing wrong about honoring our ancestors who fought for state's rights, belief in the United States Constitution and Declaration of Independence. What they did was no different than when we revolted against the union, except that we get lambasted because its easy to villainize a large group of peoplle for the actions and economic system of only a few.

Oh so you've been to atlanta then? Saw the trailer parks from the interstate? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I fucking live here. I know what its like and from your little trip through Atlanta you think you know everything about Atlanta and everything about the South, and you are clearly wrong about EVERYTHING. Jeffersondavis is right about everything he said in his post.

Also, if you actually did some research, you would discover the majority of the people that live in atlanta are from the north that moved down. Look up carpetbaggers.

im the furthest thing from a redneck but you just sound like a whiny ass bitch, there were no messages in your stupid ass posts, shopping at Prada and other expensive ass stores doesnt make you better than anyone else, and if someone likes driving trucks and living in a trailer, good for them, they can be happy without spending shitloads of money at faggy stores that people in Hollywood say are cool, you just sound like a rich douchebag who thinks hes better than everyone else, and theres no way in shit you would ever say any of that to someones face, because your a little bitch that comes on to NS to talk shit

Reminds me of a story i read and did an essay on in english class called "Paul's Case". Its about a guy who couldn't stand to be around normal, not spoiled as fuck pricks, and when he had to go back he killed himself.

it funny how you cant spell the city you were born in. and why does it matter if you lived in la when you were in preschool. you lived in the south most of your life, so that does make you a red neck or hillbillly.

yeah except you're not a gentleman at all, you're an annoying obnoxious prick who hates on people with less money. some nice clothes don't change the fact that you're a total lameass.

I hated most rednecks in high school, they were automatically assholes to any other males their age. they def weren't even close to southern gentlemen. its their attitude...extremely self-centered and hostile. also all they wore were wifebeaters/tees, levis, and camo hats.

but just because you're a redneck doesn't make you lame. if you go to extreme lengths to be a part of any culture/trend you're going to come off as an asshole.

I live in virginia, I worked for the mosby heritage area, and I def have respect for southern culture. I do however despise mainstream country and I do think less of anyone who seriously likes it.
