werd! im worrying every day about how thing are going to be when the oil runs out and we stand there with no snow

with today's cars and other vehicles, the oil will last for 40-50 years. 10 years ago, they said it would last 10-20 years. Plus, car manufactorers are making more fuel efficient cars, and airplanes are also getting more efficient. I'm guessig most of the people who are on NS today will be to old to ski whenever it gets too hot for snow.

And you could always come to norway to ski if global warming melts the nsnow everywhere else. Norway is one of the few places on earth that will actually get colder if global warming is true/continues.
 
And that is why we get rid of BUSH and put in OBAMA.

Yes, there are parts of the Earth that are warming up, but remember that there are also parts that have experienced colder weather than usual, or in other cases, stranger weather. An example of this is in Asheville, NC where my mom just moved, they experienced the coldest November they've had in ten years. So I do not agree with the term global warming on a general basis. I think what you all should start to refer to it as CLIMATE CHANGE, this is what the government and scientists are calling it now anyways.

Now, if you don't believe that climate change is happening that is where our real problem starts. And I did not say whether or not humans are the main cause of it, I just believe that we might as well try and fix what we may or may not have caused. The outcome will be worse if we don't do anything about it and was our fault, rather than doing something about it and discovering that it is part of a natural cycle.

YES we should be good to the environment, and YES we should conserve but in reality global warming and going green is also one of the biggest scams we have ever been sold, the fear of global warming and the planet getting fucked was just brainwashed into peoples heads and now companies are taking advantage of this selling "green products" which really are not much different than the original product.

Not to mention Senor Deushe Bag Al Gore made multi millions off selling this bullshit.

So my advice yes be good to the environment, yes support, alternative energy, but really think twice when people say that the world is going to shits and that DRASTIC weather changes are happening.

Besides there are theories that IF global warming is actually happening that it will result in a dip in the Gulf stream resulting in colder temperatures for east coast USA and Much of Europe. Just like said above
 
Global warming is happening and the proof is, look at the glaciers ppl were skiing on 10 years ago compared to now! either they dont have a glacier ne more, or they are open half as much bcuz of the lack of snow! eventually, we wont even be able to ski at our local mountains...
 
not to mention those record snowfalls from the past couple of seasons, or the fact that it's started snowing in africa all of a sudden!

these are all from reliable sources, basically what i'm saying here is that the earth goes through changes periodically, right now were in a rise, if the temperature wasnt going up then it would be an issue. hell, 20 years ago time magazine was talking about global cooling, its all conspiracy shit so that you buy hybrids and eco friendly products
 
Yea maybe the earth is getting rid of all it's snow as soon as possible.. and then eventually not give us any.
 
I know that people in the US are usually extremely conservative with this topic and I wouldn't call myself (or most likely anyone else here) an climate expert, but its just impossible that producing billions and billions of tons of CO2 every years stays without effect.

Ive absolutly no hope that humanity will change within time so we will probably learn it the hard way... and according to some climate models not enough snow will be our last problem...

there are also scientists that lean the other way. my logic is perhaps it isnt, but its certainly not going to hurt if we try to impact the environment less.

"Global Warming" is obviously affecting the PNW since we have absolutly no fucking snow. Fuck the PNW for once in my life the East Coast is looking very favorable.
 
Bahahahhaahhahaha! I really hope you're fucking kidding about the not enough snow thing. Okay, you are totally wrong and ignorant. No one tell me otherwise because I have a firsthand experience. I live in Fresno, Ca. We are right at the base of the Sierras, so all the water we receive comes from snowmelt. Now, which is the only region in the world produces over 365 different crops? Fresno. What do crops need to grow? Water. Where does Fresno get its water? The Sierra snowmelt. I am sure 95% of the people who eat apples, oranges, grapes, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, carrots, brocolli, lettuce, etc. are eating a central valley product. We only have about a six month rain season. That is not nearly enough rain to provide water for all the crops. Now, with snow, we get a continuous amount of water replenishing out resevoirs and the San Jauquin river (largest river in California). Well, by the time you've gotten to Los Banos, there is no more water in the river. Why is that? All the water has been sucked out and used for agriculture. Not enough snow will affect the world's ass for sure. Eat lettuce? Without enough snow the price goes way up. Eat fruit? Without snow the price goes up. Go ahead and bag on Fresno being shit and what not, but all the fruits you guys eat for half the year, all the Oranges the whole world EATS come from Fresno, the ones you drink come from Florida. I don't know if anyone realized/remembers this, but two years ago we had extremely low temperatures here in the central valley and it affected the world's Orange price, because many were simply dying right there on the trees. I remember on the news farmers would burn peach pits and turn high powered electric turbines to push the heat through the orchards, preventing the Orange crop from dying. So yeah, go ahead and bag on Fresno, I do too, but just think next time you go to the produce section and remind yourself, it most likely came from Fresno. Yeah, hopefully NS did not believe what you said, dumbass. I do agree with you on us learning the hard way. I know it will happen.
 
i believe that it's happening, but it's not as catastrophic as many think it is.

I think it's part of a natural cycle that is now being exaggerated due to human intervention. Look at all the charts of this stuff over history, it goes up, then down, then up again. The Earth is a living body itself, it's not just sitting idle. So hold on for a bit, it'll go down again, and we're in for a hell of an ice age. So stick around, the skiings going to be sick
 
Of coarse Global warming or climate change isn't a problem if you don't know what the fuck it is. I saw a presentation by gywen Dyer and i liked the way he sumerized it.

He basically said that because of carbon emmissions the earth temperature is slightly raising and what that does is expands the deserts of the world because of changes in temperature of climates around the world. the desserts are expanding is into all of the world's wheat and cereal growing areas causing droughts and drying up rivers in the east that were used for farming. If we allow it to go past a certain level it will causing a world food shortage. Meaning countries will start conflicts with other countries to feed their children and so on. He said a lot of other things but i can't say it nearly as well as he could

So Climate change isn't about our world going to die or anythings stupid like that it's about food shortages and global crisis.
 
that seems pretty close to what my prof told me in my philosphy of the environment class. the common misconception about climate change is that most people think it will just get hella warm and uncomfortable to live, but there are so many underlying issues that will come from drastic climate change, and people need to start realizing that this "perfect" world society we live in could drastically change in a number of years unless we do something about it.
 
you can call it climate change because temps are going up in certain areas and down in others, but i'll think you are retarded for doing it because you should really be looking at the global average, and therefore it should still be called global warming.
 
Ok, I normally don't call people out about stuff like this, but this just pissed me off. Did no one read my last post? Global warming is a scientific theory. By definition, there is no such thing as a consensus on it. By definition, it is not fact. And did you not read the link I posted up there? That's a small list of scientists who do not believe in the Al Gore, bandwagon global warming theory. Scientists>you.
How the hell can you expect me to believe that just because temperature and CO2 levels have a strong association over the past 500,000 years (I realize its almost definitely longer) that CO2 automatically causes temperature change? Association != causation. Any statistician can tell you that. It is equally likely that temperature changes cause CO2 level changes. Especially when you look at some of the graphs and see that the CO2 levels lag behind the temperature by a small amount. That's right, in An Inconvenient Truth he uses faulty graphs. The temperature goes up BEFORE the CO2 in some of those graphs. I'm not saying temperature causes the changes in CO2 either.
We're dealing with fucking climate change here. Do you know how many factors go into the climate? When weathermen can barely tell what the weather will be like a week from today how do you expect them to accurately predict temperatures 100 years from now? I'm going to have to find the source on this, but one predection by a climatologist who was predicting increased temperatures was off by over 300%. If you had a 300% error in any experiment you probably did something wrong.
Climate is affected by way too many things to blindly say that CO2 is going to drive temperatures up drastically high. Other greenhouse gases (btw, water vapor is much much much more prevalent in the atmosphere, something like 90% of all greenhouse gases), cloud levels, sun activity, axis tilt, ocean temperatures, snow cover, and so much more all go into it.
As a minor disclaimer, I'm attacking Al Gore's global warming, not necessarily all of the climate change theory. I have nothing wrong with reducing pollution, finding alternate energy sources, etc. etc. I just have a problem when people say the "debate is over", when, by definition, it is not.

The earths axis is changing and leaning the other way which means the north pole is leaning more to the sun more than anything. that explains how africa got snow for the first time. some of the earth is warming up and other places that would never think of getting snow is getting it and its getting cooler in those areas.

the greenhouse effect idk if you have ever heard of that but thats the biggest cause of it. there are so many natural effects happening and poeple dont even take a second to think about it and relize it because they atuomaticly assume its all humans doing it when it actually isnt. in the last century that earths temperature has increased ABOUT 1 degree. thats not alot at all. so maybe you should go do some research.

To say humans aren't contributing is a really ignorant statement. The amount of methane and carbon dioxide produced in the world every year is definitely enough to create warming spots in certain parts of the planet. While this may not affect the entire world or maybe not even a country that much, humans still have an impact.

It's actually closer to two degrees. Also people like Al Gore skew graphs to make them look much more severe than they are. However, you need to understand that the increase in average temperature isn't just 2 degrees everywhere a day. You're being completely ignorant to the fact that seasons have been a bit more extreme. Now, I do not believe this is strictly due to human intervention. That would be preposterous. Please don't call out people for things that you cannot even explain.
 
The problem with trying to fix it ourselves is that in order to reverse this said "human caused phenomenon " we would have to go back to a pre-colonial way of life. then we wouldn't have our beloved NS to rant on.
