Whoa, Simpson's towns revieled!

Springfield on the Simpson's was heavily based off a town in Massachusetts. The back round designers for the show both graduated from this town and used it as a guideline for the show. They also used Cape Cod for the episode were they go on vacation to a beach house. It was on the news a minute ago. Weird huh?
 
This show can't possibly be based off of Springfield, Massachusetts... Springfield is like a city, not suburban..
 
well it couldn't be illinois... they drive like right up to the ocean in more than one episode. but yeah its a cartoon.. kind of dumb that they finally revealed it imo... it's been a big secret since the very beginning.
 
in one episode bart and lisa went on a field trip to Crater Lake and that is in Oregon

another episode is about the baseball team the Isotopes and that is New MExicos AAA team
 
yeah everyone knows its oregon.... matt g.. is from oregon. and kills it... he went to skool with my old boss and he was the real ned flanders.....
 
The town itself, not the people, is based off the town in Mass. No the town it is based off of is not called Massachusetts.
 
in one episode they zoom out and it appears to zoom out from wesern kentucky / indiana/ illinois, but like said before what state the town is in is the biggest rolling joke in the show
 
i dont believe you...1 because MATTY G. grew up in oregon, went to school in oregon and there happens to be a springfield in oregon... i could be wrong, but that only makes sense.
 
It may be based off that town, but the actual Springfield that the simpsons are from is in Kentucky, near the northern border I believe. In one of the episodes, its called liked "Simpsons: Behind The Lines" or something, its a spoof of a VH1 show I think. The very beginning they begin talking about the simpsons and say "From the small town of Springfield in backwoods Kentucky..." so on and so forth.
 
in the behind the laughter episode it says something like "but life goes on for this northern kentucky family"

hell, i bet the people who make the show don't even know where it is, its just a generic town, people can put it wherever they want.

they made it that way so that they can move it all they want.

think about it, in different episodes, it's near:

-ocean

-mountains

-las vegas

-a desert

-new york city (episode that isn't aired much anymore due to WTC being pretty much the main thing)
 
I think your right. I rember one espisode where somebody said "south of the boarder" for like a joke meaning Mexcio. But instead someone said tennessie.

i'm like 20 minutes from springfield, mass right now. i always had a feeling it was based on the city here.
 
It was on the news. They interviewed the two guys who drew the town since season 2 and 3. They said it themselves. They used their town in Massachusetts, which is not called Springfield, as a guide line. They showed photos along with their drawings and specifically said what they drew and why they drew it.
 
its oregon.. in one episod. they complain of drving by albany.. and albany oregon is sooo fuckin smelly....deal with it oregon rules were the simpsons and your weed sucks.. HAAAAAAA
 
the guys that designed it and drew it may have based he drawings off of a town in massachusetts but matt groening, who wrote the comic, wrote it based off springfield oregon. the guys that drew it and the guy that wrote the story are completely different.

That's what I've been trying to say. Everything from the town hall, to the beach, to the comic store to the main street is based off of the two guys' town. The characters and all that jazz is whatever else.
 
The reason they use Springfield for the town is because there is a Springfield in every state. At least almost every state. I know theres one in a lot of states
