who would be interested in ordering tramp skis

me and my buddy made a pair for him today and it dawned on us that since so many freakin people on this site want them but just seem to be lazy cuz whenever i see tramp pics i never see skis, mabye 1/20 has em. anyways my point is i wanna know how many people would actually be willing to pay me to make them tramp skis and id ship em to you. if i get enough people ill think about buyin a shitload of materials and sellin them for roughly 50 dollars a pair (that price includes shipping) i gotta crunch some numbers and get material's and labor costs, that price may go up or down as well. all orders would be placed through the PM system on here and i will accept cash only through the snail mail. the cash must get to me first then ill send you your tramp skis. i also cannot attatch shoes or some sort of binding to them because everybody has different sizes and shit so your on your own with that, but its easy i could tell you how and make a diagram if you wish. the material i use are as follows.

3/4 inch plywood

romex 12 guage wire

corrugated cardboard

duct tape

2 inch drywall screws(for binding)

1 1/2 inch drywall screws(for binding)

finishing nails(for cardboard end caps)

the plywood gets cut into two 120 cm 'skis' and gets two lengths of the romex wire* layed flat on top. duct tape is wrapped around the

wire and plywood three times. then i cap the tips and tails off with two layers of cardboard** and duct tape that twice. screw some shoes on and youve got tramp skis. sounds simple but they take 2-3 hours a pair.

*adds weight for a ski like feel

**for tramp mat protection on odd landings

now this is how it is. dont go placing orders just yet, i need a count. if i get at least ten people then ill consider it. just say if you will or will not order some if its offered and any suggestions you may have.

how good do they bounce, cuz I duct taped some old 140's and they get me about 2 feet high, they spread out your weight too much.

sounds like a good idea. I tried to make some out of card board and wire but it didn't work that well. I think people would be interested in them but you have to prove that they work well. You should upload pictures of a finshed product as well as a video of someone busting on them. And what more would people have to do to attach a binding. If you can show me you have a good product I would be interested

 
yeah i should but i dont have a digital camera, i dont have any cameras with film right now either. i have a pic of me on the tramp with some older skis but thats not much help and i cant get it below 30k either. so mabye someday. ill draw a diagram on paint to give people an idea

well uhh the binding is up to you buddy not me. and i use skate shoes or inline skate shells and i have them pretty loose so they just pop off if i fall wierd. i have a diagram drawn but im retarted and cant upload it, i need some help. can i use the code shit and link it right to this thread if its a document on my comp? same thing with the pic of me bustin out on them.

Way to be a young entrepeneur... but consider a better product. I don't think you'll be making tons of money selling cardboard tramp skis online. Way to capitalize on obscure things like this, though.

ok people the numbers are in so here goes.

for each pair of skis the materials are

plywood - $3 a pair

wire - $2 a pair

duct tape - $1.50 a pair

cardboard - free

total materials cost - $6.50

labor costs - $40

total cost for YOU - $46

shipping(paid by me) - depends on where you live, somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 dollars

profit - $34

donation to NS if Haervey advertises for me - $17

my self profit - $17

im gonna try and cut a deal with harvey if he advertises on the main page for me and adds the skis as an item at the shop then he gets 17 dollars from each order towards the site and would count as a donation from you.

and if your saying to yourself wow that labor cost is high, its not. they sound simple but they take over 2 hours of non-stop work to complete a pair. they are pretty involved. im still not gonna take any orders yet these are just some figures for you and once harvey gets back to be ill go from there.

ohh sorry, few more minor details. when you first use them they are gonna feel really heavy and feel like you cant jump. a few sessions and its easy and youll be boostin higher. also after using mine for about two monthes one of them snapped in the middle. they still stay together though and wont fall a apart. ive been using one of them broken for a month now and are still as stiff as when i first got them the wire and duct tape just keeps em rock steady i promise you.

no ordering yet, this is all just a big brainstorm for now. but im gonna try my hardest to get it goin. im hoping harvey will advertise on the main page for me or do something so i get more buyers. and to help out when they are up just buy a pair, 17 dollars of your purchase goes to NS instead of me i think thats helpin. if i sell 20 or more pairs, it adds up. ill keep you guys updated as to what harvey whats to do he hasnt messeged me back yet.

hey buddy did you read the foot note, they aint easy to make. why would i send you the materials, when you could just go and make your own. nobody else seems to have a problem with the labor charge. they arent even that expensive, and you donating to NS at the same time.

haha me and my freind uses ski boards with ducttaped edges and shoes taped to them.....i hate to say this but usin skis on tramps arnt that fun, unless you wanna work on spins but its really no fun cause if you mess up on a invert trick you get sooo fucked up.....

dude that is the point. Once again, he isn't trying to make money doing it, but help skiers progress. He is also helping the site. Lastly, of course he is gonna charge some for labor, you think he just wants to waste his time. nah, if it works like a job, it best pay like one

harvey still hasnt gotten back to me but from the looks of this thread its seems it might be worth my time to make these, i need at least 8 orders cuz thats how many pairs come out of a sheet of plywood. sorry for the delay, im hoping to get this thing started real soon and i may use half inch plywood rather than 3/4 inch, its easier to get used to and cheaper but i gotta test a pair with half inch first to see if they hold up. as soon as harvey gets back to me ill give you guys the good or bad word on whats up. thanx for the support those of you who see why im doing this.

There was a really good video a while back of someone with tramp skis, they made them out of cardboard and wire, but they just used a lot of wire. And Duct tape.

So, just out of curiosity, whats to stop people from skipping you $33 price tag and 2 weeks of shipping and just making thier own out of the materials and instructions you posted first?
