Who wears helmets

im so lucky ive worn a helmet since i started skiing. i have had SOO many close calls... last year it was icy, lifts had just opend and a slopestyle comp was later that day... i was just fuckin around trying new shit off this hip.. did like an underflip shit and smacked my head... hurt BAD.. and thanks to my helmet i still got to compete. i land on my head so much

i do and now especially do becasue my frend fucked himself over last year in utah. Im talking a 6 hour coma and brain swelling. He made a full recovery but it was a miracle. So now i dont wanna risk it

I don't have a helmet and I never had. But i have always wanted one, because I've hit me head a few times. But my parents wont buy me one. They said if want one I can buy my own. Of course I'm 19 now so I guess I better find a damn job so I can get one this year cause my lucks gonna run out sooner or later.

I do because it's the most important thing to wear when skiing. Not wearing it is like walking naked on the street. Not really, but without it im more scared to get hurt. And why take the risk to get hurt for life when u can simply wear a helmet and be a lot more safe.

I dont wear a helmet because I just never found one that fit me right. They all seem really uncomfortable and stupid looking..sorry, thats how i feel. But, I'm willing to consider buying one if some of you can recommend some nice ones.

i like to wear em when i hit jumps... for some reason, i feel more comfortable w/o the mon rails.. its more inspiration not to fall... waterville valley makes us wear em there though, and as that being the place i usually ski, i usually wear a helmet

I need to buy a helme, but I have always wanted one, cuz when I used to skate(board) I would wear full pads at Vans skatepark and I would try anything, except dropping in on the vert ramp.

6 concussions (3 skiing related...1 with a helmet on)...I have no choice. Funny story...when I was a senior in HS I raced for my school (had never raced before, in fact I loathed racing and racers, but wanted to prove to those race pukes that I could kick their asses around...ended up being the no.3 on team...but that is another story) and during our last practice I was bombing down to the course and ended up crashing (got sideways launching off a knoll @ 50+ mph) and breaking 4 vertebrae. Upon impact I slid into the woods and went head first into a tree...15 staples in my head to put me back together. After I did this the MIAA (governs over all HS sports) made it mandatory to wear helmets during practice...sorry Massachusetts HS skiers...

I wear one everytime I ski but the one time i didnt wear one was the time i smacked my head real hard and had a back headake for a while

I know a guy (snowboarder) who was trying to show off to some friends and hucked a backflip without a helmet...he's now a parapalegic with brain damage. I need no other evidence.

 
^Ouch, I'm sorry, it's terrible to have thing like that happen.

As I mentioned before, my helmet(s) have saved me on multiple occasions. I cracked one last season at crested butte, and I wasn't even on anything too hairy. I just happened to slide head first into a small rock, and at a fairly slow speed.

I can't imagine what that rock would have done to my head.

Also, fellow treeskiers know helmets are practically essential for bombing through the woods. I have become use to ducking my head and breaking smaller branches with my helmet.. so nice.

What do you all think about pros wearing them? Do you think sponsor push them to wear/ not wear helmets in photos and vids?

If my opinion helmets cause more injuries than they save, kids think they can't get hurt with helmet on, so they go crazy and do tricks they wouldn't normally do.

always_ski- that's an interesting opinion, I've never thought of that...I guess helmets could give kids a sense of false confidence.

Anyone else ever cracked a helmet? Granted, mine was a minor crack, but still very sketchy.

Helmets are the shit, they are warmer than hats and don't make your head all itchy like hats can. If you get a light one like the Giro9 you dont even realize you have one on. Plus the keep your goggles in place really well.

And oh yeah if you ever crash you wont be a retard afterwards.

I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.
 
OUI!!! Because it's safer...

Last year I hit my head and lost like 3-6 months of memories, and I WAS wearing a helmet! Imagine if I hadn't been!
