Who was the first person to grind on skis?

ive got documentation of a tree slide when i was in middle school, singletips and everything.

No way to settle this at all. I did rails ever since parks were opened here in Colorado. I was like 7 probably don't even know. But, as long as parks have been up people have been hitting rails, and im sure even before that.

You cannot know for sure. I mean if it was a park rail or a tree, it doesn't matter because technically the first person to grind could have been wayyy back in the day of wooden 210's when a skier accidentally rode over a tree branch or a rock.

People occasionally and I stress ocasionally jibbed some stairs railings in the 70's & 80's with YES 195cm 203cm 208cm even 222cm downhill racing skis. Believe it or not!

james bond slid a picnic table in one of older bond movies, I don't remember which one but it was definitely from at least the 1980s

Well the first ever rail cover was by Skogen Sprang and the magazine that ran it was Freeze. I believe that was in 99...correct me if I'm wrong

i think the idea of it has been around for a while. i think as long as skateboarders, and snowboarders have been doing it, skiers have been doing it. The thing is that skiing is not as mainstream in ( action sports) so people did not know about it untill recently.
