Who uses touring bindings?

I love mine, I just have the Diamir Fritschi Ti-3's right now, which I got a sick price for, and maybe next year or later on I'll spring for the FreeRide model. My friend has the Naxo Mountain Bindings which are pretty sweet too.

Anyways, I'm hooked, anyone else use them?

naxos -- i like lifts as much as the next guy, but touring is the way to go for unlimited, untouched deep

in a couple years when i get some new boards i may get them, it would be nice if the din went up to 14 and there wasnt so much lift

yah i want to, i think touring is dope

always leave the bitches hanging, the lure of the donkey dizzle is enought to wrangle them back

I will buy freerides for my wife next season for weight and for touring. We get alot of semi flat traverses here where they just make sense to have.

Me Im thinking Naxos but you have to reach down to switch over to touring mode, right? that is a pain in the ass but they look strong.

At the moment im using trekkers.

P.S. JAPAN HAS SICK POWDER

can you ski hardcore big mountain on touring bindings? do they pop off like a normal binding?

I would defenitly consider them

yeah you can definately ski big mountain with the Naxo or the Freeride. They are beefy enough to hold up in the resort or in the big mountain setting. My new set up that i bought for myself this year are Pistols with the Freeride bindings on em. they kick ass. i rip just as hard on the groomers and in the resort than i do in the backcountry they realease when they need to and i never just pop out of them. if your definatley into touring but also into stomping big airs i would recommend that set up. i have had no problems.

Ya I got the same set up as the guy above^^^. I wanna get my freerides warrenteed because both heel pieces have play and the toe piece to, even tho the toe piece is cranked down really tight. If you got touring boots like myself, there is no touring boot stiff enough to ski on a din of 12. Trust me. You dont need a din of 12 if you got AT boots and just ski backcountry. Wanna move onto a lighter setup next year but Freerides are pretty reliable, and release on those nasty falls.

Trekkers.... then you're just stuck putting something else into your pack and not having all the control of a toruing binding.

Naxo's are pretty sweet......but sooner or later all AT bidings will break and fuck you. For example, I hiked about 3000 vert today only to have my binding break about 50 yards from the top. My Naxo's ski great when in downhill mode though. You just have to be super gentle when skinning with them. Hopefully they will work out the kinks soon.

Look... A mountain RAM. Staring contest. Me and you. You don't even blink do you? You win. You always do. Goulet.

I was going to get a pair of the freerides this year for my gotamas, but backed out at the last min because I heard they were no good on groomers. Now I'm kicking myself for it because my dad and I are planning a backcountry trip from Loveland to Vail in CO and I'm going to have to rent gear since my trekkers suck for long tours.

lineskier, they are like an alpine binding, but the heel can detach, and there is a hinge under the toe so you can cross-couuntry your way up a hill like a tele skier.

Over time, most people experience life involving love, sufffering, compassion and an uspeakable drive for something new... for me there's skiing, nothing more nothing less and it encompasses everything, every day I'm out there.

my dad does but he hardly uses them with the conditions here

I use regular alpine boots with my Freerides and so do most of my friends with an A/T setup.

However A/T boots are lighter, warmer, and more comfortable. They are softer though, so when you get back in bounds it can kinda suck if the snow's packed.

I wonder how freerides would do on the occasional trip into the park.

better to burn out...

...then fade away

with my setup (pistols+freerides) i ski the park hard and hit 40 footers no prob. i just spent the whole day today in the park they work fine.
