every know and again i get shooting pain threw my calfs/ shins and i went to see a doctor and he said it was shin splints...who else still has them?

I havent felt it for a while. I know sombody who thought he had shin splints but then went to the doctor a while ago and found out he'd been skiing with stress fractures all winter.

i still have the lumps with minute pain if they get bumped or kicked...but walking, swimming, etc they are fine...

here's some advice for anyone dealing with em, cause they really can make your season miserable:

1. land and ski switch as often as possible

2. crank your buckles down even if you gotta let them up like a racer on the lift

3. tape your calves under your socks because the muscle pulling away from the bone is what can cause the pain sometimes

i use to get them from my ski boots...and then i started cranking them madd tight. and they went away.
