Who saw the "hexo-flip" in freeskier

are you serious? i thought it was cool to see a trick like that tried in competition when there was clearly something to lose, but to say that the last 360 of his cab 10 WASN'T hucked is idiotic. it seemed like a pretty smooth rotation up until there, but he realized he had about two vertical feet before the lip of the pipe and he had another 360 to go...

skiing seems like it's turning into "let's throw ourselves off big jumps and spin in as many directions as possible as fast as possible and hope we land on our feet." whatever happened to style?

i agree that to experienced skiers its more fun to do/watch slower smoother more stylish tricks than doubles. However if we want our sport to keep growing it means that the public has to have an intrest in comps/footage. Technical tricks that arent impressive visually will kill non skiers respect for the sport. I think thats what happened with rollerblading. Nobody cared wheather the pornstar was natural or tru-spin to unnatural however they may have had more public intrest if they were throwing double backs down a 30 stair set.

Every time a dub flip is mentioned, why do so many people go berserk? Have any of the cryers in this thread seen Yeah Dude? There were like...4 doubles in the whole movie, and about 800 switch 5s, give or take.

I lost my faith in the "leader" of pipe skiing, the Dumont, when he started throwing that awful looking, ungrabbed 12 in the pipe....don't even get my started on the alley oop 10 he was trying to push as an alley oop flatspin 10.

Jon's double flips are really well executed because he's a robot. That's what robots do, complicated tasks with relative ease.

I say "bleh" to all others trying to do what Jon has done to perfection. And now, I just want to see a somewhat floated alley oop flatspin 9 in the pipe and I'll be so happy.

they shouldn't come up wtih a new name every time someone does two of something that's already been done. If someone does a 360, and then I do a 720, I don't get to name it as a new trick, thats retarded.

what im saying is...you should compare the too (jacobs and jons) doublecorks, dj's whatever.

theyre both inverted 7s followed by a underflipish rodeo 5. (jacobs is more of an underflip, jon's seems to be on a rodeo axis, nevertheless almost identical. the first 7s look the same).

is it really big enough difference for jon to go name it his own when someone else did it a year before him?

thats like naming a cork 7 your own trick because you do a special flail or something in it that noone else does.

Ever heard of D-spin? its just a super corked out spin. if your taking a spin into two completely different axi..... thats plural for axis right? then it should have a different name. just like a kangaroo flip isn't really a flip at all its flat-flat so its a spin, they need different names so you know what a kids talking about when he comes into the shop and tells you what he's doing on a water ramp. anyways back to my original point this stuff has been going on for a while.

to straighten up some confusion, the dj flip is sometimes confused with jacobs double cork but the dj is actually a D spin 7 to either flatspin 5 or underflip to fakie(it could go both ways. when the dj is done right it is much different then jacobs trick. and the hexo is simply a switch double rodeo 10

double flips are sweet but only for so long, then they just get repetetive. i really liked turpins double flip at the end of the beaver tail trailer.

and dumonts 12's in the pipe are ugly as shit.

ughh, never has my head hurt so much from talking about skiing. maybe studying will make my headache go away... goodnight

No scanner, here's a picture.

The DJ Flip, which is a double cork 12

i totaly agree with the frowned upon huckfest, but jacobs massive kang and dub cork in the late stages of JOI? common, he was spinning just as slow as some really steezy 7's, its just that he had so much time. those 2 tricks will never allow me to say that all doubles are gay. even tho alot of doubles are gay, they have the potential to be fuckin sick

so true! westers kang is soooo sweet! but jon has got his dubs good as well... but the rest of the guys doing'em is making them look like shit

Well, neither was the first switch 7 to go down in a major event (JF Cusson, first ever XGames skier big air).

But hey, whattaya know, now all kinds of people can do insanely steezy switch 7s.

Without an innovator like JF to "huck" something new, maybe we wouldn't see the stylish cab 7s that we do today....

Give the guys a chance. At this point, nobody knows how good some people might be able to make them look in a few more years.

Or should we put limits on our sport, cuz it sounds like that's what some people are getting at???

fuck that, double flips are fucking sick. Way more technical than a cab 5, pretty much everyone can do a cab five these days, nothing special about it.

Easy buddy, you're mouth is writing checks that your skills can't cash. I know I can't do any double flips, and theres a 99% chance that I will never try one. Does it make me a pussy? no. You on the other hand, are making it seem like you aren't a pussy like me. My question is, can you skiierman, do any double flips? no? Well then, you just called yourself a pussy

i agree with you %100

i dont care about double flips that much

they are kinda retarded but im not going to flip a bitch about it

I DID!!! but like i read above yes Jon is a robot, all he does is practise this stuff over and over every day, so he better damn be able to pull it off

that is so ridiculously off axis i wonder how does he get back on the right axis. he has a sense of air beyond my imaginations
