Who said american apparel was gay?

true story: in highschool i was hooking up with a girl who worked at american apparel and she told me dov charney once asked her if she was wearing a bra, and when she said yes he told her not to be wearing one the next time he came into the store. we were 17 or 18 at the time.

WHOA WHOA WHOA! that's a totally different argument...VS and Fredericks are LINGERIE companies. what do you expect from them to put it on mannequins? hahahaha

you seem like the type of girl that keeps her clothes on during sex and leaves the lights off.

yes.
Plus Fredrick's and VS are lingerie retailers... basically naked is the whole point.
When VS advertises their clothing lines, their models are dressed and decent. from what i've seen at least.

not entirely when the models for AA are wearing underwear. Same thing, its underwear and some of it is on similar level to things you can find at victorias secret, and fredrick's, or don't you buy lingerie?
Just saying, looking at a real female body type in underwear is sexier and less disgusting to me than looking at a photoshopped 36,24,36.
And wow, thats sad that you would judge me in that matter when I'm defending a company that uses sex appeal more obviously than nearly every other company.
You have NO IDEA who I am or what I do, so WHO ARE YOU to judge?

so wait maybe i misread you...

you're defending AA's ads and saying VS and FoH are scandalous

or

you're hating on both and saying they're both degrading?

because if i misread you i apologize.

I've been defending AA this entire time stating that it is a real image of what women are and that I find what we have delusionally decided to be OK advertising disgusting. Yes, I think the women of VS are beautiful, but I hate the advertisements for them are considered acceptable when they are entirely airbrushed and edited to look as absolutely amazing as possibly when a company that takes pictures of women (yes women) are considered disgusting for wearing normal full but panties and yes, being in a provocative position, but how else can you make a pair of panties look hot with out being a VC model and airbrushing?

Levis has had topless girls in jeans, guess has done it, United colors of bentington does it, abercrombie and fitch does it..... soooooooo american apparel can't cause they look like real girls
and I was refering their underwear and lingerie pieces to VC their clothing, but if you check their website..... the marjority are entirely clothed.
Case in point:

yeah, thats me, hense my heavy defending. Hate if you want, I don't care, but I just can't see what people think is disgusting except the owner of the company, which is not the entire company.

i understand exactly what your saying. these "real women" getting advertised is great or whatever. but!

for the record, i'd fuck that freckled chick as hard as i could. more shit like that in ads please.

How does AA represent the real image of what women are when it has SASHA FUCKING GREY as one of there models. Not shure if you know who she is ( youjizz that shit) but she is like the nastiest porn star EVER. If your saying she represents what women really are then your an idiot. Atleast VS has decent non pornstar girls in there Ads.

/end rant

Ok, shes a porn start. OMG!
I didn't know that, i didn't care, I see someone that with out knowing shes a porn star, I wouldn't know. They still show women in their real forms. Ones with boobs, ones with out, ones with a little weight, ones with out, ones that are beautiful, ones that are average, all races, all heights, all different sizes. What is so terrible about that?

ok well thanks for clearing that up...

well i hate to break it to you babe but the only thing airbrushed on VS models are blemishes/wrinkles/ and skin imperfections (which i would also want) their bodies are FLAWLESS and well don't need to be modified to look any better.

take for example Marisa Miller (my female crush), her measurements are 34-23-35 and i don't think anyone in their right mind would complain about that. she is completely gorgeous and well she is into extreme sports so that makes her beautiful too. she has every right to get up and flaunt that hard body and beautiful face, and IMO VS ads aren't even that sexy.

now take the average AA model, yeah they are girls off the street or employees but their measurements are pretty similar with respect to bra size of course. while they are famous for leaving girls in a natural state, they are more famous for having provocative and over the top pictures. also victoria's secret does not display their ads like american apparel which features nude/semi nude girls.

here is my little comparison...

and trust me i can make a pair of panties look DAMN good without ANY airbrushing.

American Apparel, Dov Charney in specific, disgusts me.
A lot of the models may not be "perfect"--they are different from VS, etc, in that way... but you really think those ads are making women seem more "real"?
Rachy don't defend AA against my post. I don't care.

I don't know about you, but I saw nasty pubes on the Sasha Grey pic. Certainly not the REAL form that VS or and other company uses. That's just nasty and over-the-top on everyone's scale. And yes, she is Grey is known as a porn star. Why do you think they used her image? It's because they are saying "Look girls, porn stars where this clothing. You too can have yellow striped stockings and show your nasty pubes while you take a 13 inch DICK IN THE BUTT."
Get over yourself.
It's ideal and brand advertising. Of course they have an agenda.

yes, i have that bra and it works wonders for boobs.

go check out miranda kerr in a bikini, she still looks incredible. but her face there it's called makeup and obviously they are going to photofinish it.

I don't' care about anything else you've posted in this thread. I don't believe you. You should prove me wrong.

but seriously, Pics or you're lying. I'll accept a PM so you won't have 1,000 13 year olds wanking off to you.

Alright, fine.

OBVIOUSLY THAT HAS BEEN PHOTOSHOPPED. I'm not an idiot. I never said that VS ads were natural. I just don't think that AA's ads portray women in a "real" way. The models might be real, but those ads? Those body positions? The outfits? They don't represent me or a company I would ever support. To each his own.Whatever, I'm done.

And for the record, I love VS and their bras feel and look amazing. I'm right there with you stillakilla!

I know that these girls are beautiful, but they are made to look perfect, their skin is made to look perfect, the lighting is done to be perfect. It totally loses any feel of being realistic.
I would much rather look at an image of a real person (and yes, i think we girls of AA typically look like real people).
I'm not model height, i don't have a model body, but I can make a minidress and raybans look hot. And if I can do that, shouldn't other NORMAL girls be able to? That is what AA is selling. Not a delusion of photoshopping and women with already perfect bodies.

Litterally.
They have shirts that say Legalize Gay.
But chances are you own a t-shirt or 2 by them. Being that they are the largest wholesaler in the US and most popular among band wear as well as huge in the boutique clothing company world. Most companies Tshirts aren't made by the company, and in many cases, they are made by AA. So enjoy your AA tshirts.

I understand where you are coming from. But you gotta stop worrying about it. Yeah, it sucks, but at least now a days they are starting to move away from airbrushing because of beliefs like yours. (Seriously, they are)

But just to stir the pot even MORE concerning 'fake vs' girls, check out Adriana Lima sans makeup..

adriana_lima_fitting_good_big.jpg

But, still, check out that body. Yeah, she has a great body, but it's not unreasonable for a lot of other girls to have that too. Face wise, lots of airbrushing (not saying she's not beautiful), but body wise.. that's her body. And I know plenty of girls who have the same, if not better body.

Give us all airbrushing and professional make up artists and we'll all be super hot!

shit, you're right. I think i can settle with sharing but only because we live so far apart. I don't like to cross swords.

until next time my large panda friend.... until next time....

AA is fucking awful. They're perpetuate the stupid hipster look and they have shitty disgusting and idiotic advertisements too. Somehow people who buy their clothes get a mental condition the second they walk into the store where they just have to buy whatever fits the tightest and makes them look as fucking stupid as they possibly could.

jesus just let it go already. Where is the basis of your claims here? Because honestly all I see is a girl at her computer making shit up. Actually, I'm kidding, I don't care. Don't answer me. please, don't.

Don't tall Ts do the same thing? I mean, looking as stupid as possible?
Oh, and popped collars...
Then there is the bro look...
and the guido, can't forget them.
and the girl that dresses like britney spears.
So if all these look stupid to me, but fitted jeans, hoodies, dresses, and tights dont, that must make me a hipster.
No population can be entirely pleased by a sub culture. Even target has gone more hipster. It sucks that so many people have so much against it, that's too bad, but at the same time I don't care. I wear clothing that I like, that fits me, that is less expensive than many places that is made in the US by workers that get paid well. And yeah, I do feel the need to defend the company I work for because I believe that it is doing daring great things even if I can't stand the owner.

To spite you.
I'm a model for AA. I have been for 5 years now. I was a double major in anthropology and international apparel production management with a minor in digital media arts. I dropped the apparel production upon figuring out that I will be getting my masters in international fashion management.
So yes, I have a very STRONG opinion on the matter.

Well, you enjoy modeling for AA and showing off your un-airbrushed natural hoohaa...

I will take my Biology major + Environmental Science and Spanish Minors and go to Med School :)
