Who remembers?

A thread I was reading before got me thinking about skiing back in the day.

Who's been skiing for long enough to remember before there were even

terrain parks? straight skis? helicopters lol? When there were a total of 3 snowboarders on the mountain? Or having some skier only/snowboard only trails? Its crazy how things have progressed and evolved. I started skiing in 1990 and have been doing it every weekend of the season since then. Anyone else feel me?
 
i remember poaching "snowboard parks" back in the day before skiers were allowed in.
skiing's come a long way, but we shouldn't forget where we came from. Here's one for Bill Briggs and Glen Plake.
 
I remember hitting the "no skiers allowed" halfpipe and getting a whole lotta fuck you;s from the boarders hiking up it. Now skiers own the pipe, good stuff

this is a photograph of me and my little bro at Sierra. it was 97 i think. i was 5 and i had been skiing for 3 seasons. im on the left in the radical one piece.

I was thinking about this just the other day...
I remember the snowboard only park and pipe. And then they started to let skiers in, but only on Sunday afternoons...
haha back in the day!
 
I remember going into the snowboard park in Fernie. They had a van in there for a butter box. That was so sick.
 
i'm too young, i didn't start skiing til '94 and by then snowboarding was already the coolest shit eva and helis were pretty big on the scene.
 
i remember when salomon came out with their first twin tips and every one had them.

i remember thinking parobolic skis sucked when they first came out cuz i delaminated 3 pairs of them in about a month. but imagine if we were still skiing on straight skis! haha, thatd be amazing to see in the park
 
i remember going to the snowboard park and overshooting every jump doing mute grabs

snowboarders thought i was badass

and the jumps were tiny, so overshooting was nothing
 
my first few pairs of skis were pencils. when i was 4 i had blizzards, 5 got some atomics or somethin, then when i was 6 i got some dynastar shape skis, so stoked!
 
Yeah, I had a pass pulled for skiing in the "snowboard pipe". I had some Ficsher Vaccum Tubes and Olins in like a 205.
 
my dad still has his straight sidecut, 203 cm k2 skis in our basement. they are sooo dope, they have graphics just like the extremes, but are red with the k2 logo going down the ski fading into orange and then like yellowish. he has like the oldest salomon 2 piece bindings on them and i really want to take them up to the pass once and see how much they really suck...
