Who remembers this segment?

Was reminiscing on the song War by CunninLynguists and it brought back memories of this classic jump segment. The sw dub backy is such a heater and I'd say that shot still stands the test of time.

So classic, them moving the jump back makes it so much more terrifying. The shots do a good job capturing how big that really is

No one would build or hit that jump today. So dangerous. Half the banter is like uhhh how do we know how fast to go to not die. Lol

this, its so weird seeing a jump that big that's a true step down like that haha

Drone shots are cool and all but just don't capture the magic like shooting 35mm from a heli.

those shots are unmatchable, the camera op is insanely talented, nobody today could touch that filming

i just wish they were wider because you can't really see the size of the jump when the video is close-up on the skier. shot at 7:26 is flawless

The next generation will be absolutely mindblown when they first realise we used fucking helicopters to shoot aerial footage back in the day

seriously have never heard of this flick until now. is that hoji when he still skied park? who else?

and mark abma when he was a park skier! And Rory bushfield who is also a straight up monster, he does the switch dub backy here

I forget who the snowboarders were

Wow, big nostalgia vibes here. First ski movie I ever bought, mostly because there was a second dvd with all the athlete edits. How old was Sammy C in this, 15?

Also, does anyone remember Pollards self edit in pull? In my eyes it was the antithesis of the dumont/fort minor/I’m the best attitude.

That's Dumont with him as well right?

Yup. First year his pro model came out. It was a big deal because it was the first solly park ski that had a wood core.

Also, if anyone can find Sammy’s segment from this movie I will upvote the shit out of your post. It’s one of his best.

The movie that got me into freeskiing way back in the day. It's funny to see how so many things have changed, but the skiing is still super gnarly. I will definitely be going on a binge of old school segments now. MSP in its prime.

Man what a trip. I got my parents to drive me all the way up to Whistler after school to watch this premiere in the Roundhouse - posters signed by Sammy C, Hoji, Sarah, Abma, among others and I was over the damn moon. That was my first ski movie premiere at like 14 years old or something, and just met so many of my heroes. I remember some drunk girl was talking about how dope Pollard was "rocking out backwards" and how she could do all the same tricks - I don't think I quite appreciated his seg until a couple years later.

This session was all time - Hoji, Bushy, Abma, Sammy, Dumont, Sarah, and I think the snowboarder was John Jackson (so another major heavyweight).

Thanks for the share!

Lol!

”Hey you know the million dollar helicoptor is cool and all, but we can mount a drill battery onto a plastic toy helicopter for like 500 bucks and it is basically the same thing.”

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will top s16/35mm film shot from a heli by a human.

Does Sarah have clips in this? I couldn't pick her out.

Thanks for sharing, never watched this, so dope! I fucking miss skiing up in 7th.

I am sure that is true, I know they didn’t do that just for the hell of it.

From an idiots perspective the shots of heli circling are cooler than the heli shots IMO, I wish there were some wide angle on board to capture what is going on occasionally but that is just my 2 cents.

1:47ish is her signature style for sure. Might just be the one clip?

sw dub back was pure nails over that gap. Wouldn’t have expected any other soundtrack for the big jump sesh. Cork 3 blunt was huge too

Rory's skiing is cemented in the annals of ski history, but this is the one that truly made him a rockstar for me.

Such nostalgia. Think I was a junior in high school when this came out. Iconic segment from an iconic movie.

Yeah, I was a junior too. 2006. Cunninlynguists... Fort Minor... helicopter sunset jump shoots... mega stepdowns. fuck.
