Who remember seeing this live?

If you know what this picture is, you can say you were here from the begining, if you dont know, no big deal, just realize that this is the reason you have twintips, and the reason you are here today.

If I had to guess I would say it was when they had the winter Xgames jump thing at the summer X GAmes in San Fran or wherever the hell it was. Maybe that's Vinnie?

And my first skis were the original 1080 groms, 145.

Or Predator.

Fate actually makes really sick shit. That blue suit I wore all season was Fate, and I loved it. They made way legit stuff. Next year will be baller as well.

DAMN right, altough the comentator said 720 FAKIE TO FAKIE

its his winning jump at the X games 99, and the pants were rip curl.

Crested Butte. I will commend Cusson's skills and you for bringing up such discussion, but that sole event was NOT the reason twin tips were made.

K2 had already produced the twin-tip skis Poacher and Pipeline, Dynastar had the Twin Board Concept on Candide's feet at that event and Rossi had the Vert. Salomon went the further step at the time and made the better twin-tip than those others mentioned, but they were not the first.

yeah it was unaty like cusson is spinning left but if you look at the video of the comp is spinning right.

just because at that time he didn't know how to ride switch looking over his left shoulder

I was there. I may be a NS noob, but I was there at the beginning. That is JF, fakie 2 fakie, rockin some sick RIP CURL gear. JF and Brad Holmes rode for Rip Curl back in the day, I bought one of their coats, so sick, 1st time I'd seen wrist gaiters.

Never said they were the first twins.... I know they weren't. But without cusson doing this, and all these guys did, we'd all be reading books and in school right now lol

My older friends got me started, and i just didn't stop. And When I saw that picture I knew he was spinning to the right, but I couldn't figure out why or who. Either way, it's dope.

oh, and the poachers are badass. woodgrain... speckled bases..

Poacher was even before the Pipeline. I remember when my homies Noah and Josh both got pairs of Poachers. I was so jealous. Those Poachers were awesome despite their noodlyness. MF Doom would say Quite Buttery.

yup! i was standing 50 feet away when it happened and have some picts with all the winners from the awards ceremony. that X-games rocked!

Heh. I remember that. JF's switch 7! I used to have BFA pants and jacket back when I skied bumps. Stuff was sweet!

haha yea!! I always thought mogul pants were for losers but then I saw JF stomp that switch 7 and suddenly I wanted 4 pairs. Although I never did get them haha. I think I secretly knew the truth all along.

def remember

cusson switch 7 super hucked no grab

interview after he says "that's some pure hucking"

beat out johnny moseley who threw a "dinner roll" 7 through the comp, his last hit he put both of his poles into one hand to grab with the other, and went to the bottom of the landing with a backslap landing.

cusson wins.

i remember the x-games before those, with the skiboard slopestyle, and triple air. I would also attribute moseley's mute 3 at nagano as the moment my mind was blown and it was on.

ya and moseley was doing 720 dinner rolls with like a straight legged japan for like 2nd place or something. SICK

I remember watching that stuff live on TV. Then the next day on the hill I was telling kids in the ski club about it

"yeah and he did a 720, backwards [before i even said switch] and everything!"

"Wait, you can't do a 720 and land backwards"

"no he started off backwards and landed backwards"

"NO WAI!"

He also did a switch 7 in powder that year too I think. It should be in the intro to 13. Shit I'm gunna go watch that movie and Degenerates now.

cusson sw7 99 xgames in crested butte.

predator has been my only clothing sponsor ever...and im fuckin old. thats how long they been doin it. and their shit kicks ass.

I remember thinking this was one of the lamest ideas ever at the time. I stand by that notion. I think thats when I stopped being so inspired by Moseley's 360 mute and got real stoked on learning how to ride switch.

I never was inspired by the "moseley 360 mute" cause I'd seen it before, and some one else did it a couple runs later (I think it was Julien). The lincon loop to switch that Cusson did on is other hit is the stuff that got me hot and hard for skiing.
