Who rakes in more dough?

I know this is a summer thread on ns and you should just ski for the fun of it with your pals blah blah, but I was just wondering out of curiosity, who do you guys thinks more money, a pro park skiier or a pro backcountry skiier?

Are we comparing the top park guy vs. top backcountry guy,top 5 vs. top 5, or the entire field in general.

It makes a huge difference.

It's basically a difference between which you can name more of. If you can name them and remember them, they probably have sponsors, and the skier more people know about, most likely has more sponsors. Therefore more sponsors ≈ more money.

Because of that, park skiers.

I hope this isn't serious. You can't name big mountain skiers because you're a park rat, not because they don't have sponsors.

I'm sure they are pretty close to even. With park skiers edging them out by a bit maybe due to the x games. Even if they don't win it is a huge press opportunity if someone who rides for redbull gets on such a widely viewed event. With the entry of skiing real snow though I would imagine it would even out.

This is newschoolers. Kids will be able to name more kids in the level 1 movies than in the tgr movies. It sounds like you're saying the level 1 kids should be making way more bank than tgr riders because of that. Well, that's just not true.

the rock of denial that a sport created from people sick of rules went running back to the rule book

How-dare-you-say-that.gif

Park skiers have to. Especially with the Olympics coming up. I don't think there is any ways the top powder skiers get paid as much as bobby and Tom and those consistently top placing riders do

On second thought, I don't think many people I. The ski industry "Rake in dough" . Have you read the article about stept on freeskier? Those guys are scraping by.

Benchetler Makes mad cash from Atomic his promodel ski sells like hot cakes .. In general park skiers namely anyone winning large comps is goog to be making the most money. Atomic is in my opinion the company that now pays the highest retainers Chris is on at least 100 g a year and jossi would be up there in the park world . The highest paid skiers in my opinion would probably be Sammy Carlson , Twall(namely gopro and big contract with north face ) Simon Dunont (old contracts with Salomon , Target and Red bull) Candide with Quik and maybe Bobby Brown. I think he most underpaid people would be Henrik and Torrin as I doubt Armada pay nearly as much to their riders as say Atomic, Volkl , Salomon before and before that Rossi.

Well dude stept is still about as underground as they come. I wouldnt expect anyone to think they were raking in the dough...

I would say the skiiers that have pro models and have a good sponsor like redbull or rockstar are probably making the most bank! im sure it doesnt matter to much on whether they are back country or park...

Park skiers by far due to their exposure. They have the X-Games and the Dew Tour, which are on ESPN for the entire world to see. Some Park skiers are sponsored by companies Target or LG. Backcountry Skiers are only famous to hardcore ski fans who buy TGR and MSP movies every year they come out, and are not famous beyond the ski community, therefore they are less valuable to partnerships.

You do realise that your opinion doesn't count for shit right? I'd like to see you back up these wild claims with some proof.

Because skiing is kinda notorious of being a sport only for the filthy rich people, so people get the impression that the athletes must get a lot of money because of how expensive the sport is to begin with. That's my theory, probably wrong haha

It makes sense, but really though. These dudes are no-more than half a step above ski bums. They're just getting some money to do it.

R u serious? Teton Gravity Research is a company from Jackson Hole who have been shooting up in AK making some of the most hardcore and sickest ski movies since 1995. Doug Coombs, Micah Black, Jeremy Nobis, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Ian Mac,and Nick Martini, are all TGR guys.

You have to take a look at the over all life span of a park vs big Mountain skier. Park guys make more for the comp and yearly income but look at the average age. The Park guys normally only have a few years to make your money before they ether get hurt and cant ski or progression passes them up. The true big mountain guys can ski well into their.... Well look at Seth Morrison at 40 years old. The true transition is from the park killer to the big mountain filmier. If you can pull that off you can make some descent money. The Big Mountain Guys put their asses on the line every time they drop a no fall line. You go down, your dead. They deserve the cash in my book.

My bad, man. Its kinda hard to tell if youre serious considering that 90% of all users on NS only watch Level 1 anyway. Sorry
