ok my parents want me to start paying rent to live at home.. but i mean. its not like i can then do whatever i want in my room that im renting. its i have to abide by all their rules still. so i figure i might as well move out. i gotta sell my horse first then i can. but who else pays rent and still lives at home?

i still live at home,if they start being asses with me and want to charge me rent then ill tell them off and move away,simple as that

when i was outta skool for the year 2 yrs ago, my mom made me pay rent, but as soon as i went back to skool that ceased. but, in about 3 weeks i'll be back to paying rent as we have finally found an apartment close to skool.. i can't friggin wait to get outta this goddamned suburban utopia.

 
yeah, my stepdad got all fagish and was like 'u live in my house u live by my rules' and I was like fuck you asshole. He was just pissed b/c I kept comming home late. And it's not like I can get a place for 2 months b4 I go back to school, so I've just been living at a friends house, I don't pay the rent but I buy the booze, and the reefer but I smoke it all so I guess that doesn't really matter. But yeah tell your parents to fuck off, or challenge your dad to a fight to show who the bigger man is.

i moved out a couple months before i even graded from high school, my parents were moving about 5 hours away from my old place and i didn't want to go, so now im 18 years old with my own place and can do whatever the hell i want, its so much fun, when lived with my parents they were harsh strict about everything, now im free

One of my friends' parents charged him rent for pretty much all of high school. He got to do pretty much whatever he wanted because of it. And now that he's in college, they are using that money to pay for school. It's kinda' weird that he's using his own money for school, but they had it in some stock thing that made it multiply pretty quick.

i payed close to $800/mth at my old place. Small bachalor apt. I was fun for parties, and was cool because it was mine. BUt sucked cause it sucked so much. The actual rent was 649 plus 20 for my motorcycle, plus 150 for cable, phone, internet. Lived there for about 14 mths.

My new place, which is 1000x better, a 3 bdrm, about $500/mth plus phone, cable, hydro. Free motorcycle parking. This place has a balcony, 1.5 bathrooms, wood flooring, ceramic tiling in bathrooms and kitchen. dishwasher!

Both places are in Sandy Hill in Ottawa. SO pretty much, DOWNTOWN. $$$$

yea, it was a basement apt. SUCKY.

yes. 1.5 bathroom means, 1 bathroom has sink, toilet, shower. The other has sink and toilet. NO BODY is permitted to pee in either sinks.

wtf, this is dumb. just because you pay rent doesn't mean your landlord can't enforce rules on you. you can move to another place, but your landlord still has rights over the property. with that being said, in the states your parents are legally obligated to provide you with shelter until you're 18 or so.

why pay rent to your parents? thats so gay. why not just move out? stay at home as long as you can stand it then move the fuck out. then you can come home at 5am, piss in the sink and pass out in your washroom and not have to deal with parents in the morning.

i never really had problems like that with my mom. i did move out a few weeks before i finished HS though, just because the rent was cheaper if i moved then. my place right now is pretty shady, but thats what 305 US a month gets ya

 
$800/month is a lot, but Ottawa has the third highest standard of living in Canada (behind TO and Van). I'm 22 and I still live at home. I don't pay rent, but I'll give my 'rents money for bills when they need it. I babysit my little sister for free a lot too. My 'rents never really care about shit like me coming home at 5am and wasted. They did though when I was younger.

i'll continue living at home as long as my parents continue to pay my car insurance, provide me with food, and pretty much baby my ass. it's nice and i'm willing to put up with stupid shit every once in a while for what i get in return.

 
This might sound crazy but with 15k you could possibly swing a deal on a condo or townhouse cause interest rates are really low. You could buy the place have morgage payments lower then rent payments, then get some roommates have them pay your morgage and utilities for you. You might have a time or two when you have to cover for one of them but with your savings it would be no problem. I'm guessing you are in your early twenties, with a fifteen year morgage you would be in the clear in your thirties and the rest would be gravy. taa daa skiing bumming for life:)

 
Ok, I remember then when we were in your house flanker.

In my highschool, we lived in this house/residence thing with about a dozen guys. Me, my roomate and another senior peed in all 8 sinks in the house two nights before graduation. It was fun.

What if you had a room with just a shower, like you could pee in the shower, use it as a sink but no shits. That's like a .5 too, right?
