Who on NS appreciates ski racing?

nice pic man, i raced for 6 years

this year i got a job at my hill as a race coach, its a fun job and it pays the bills for all my freeskiing stuff.

racing is dopeive done if for about 9 years with a 2 year break in there.you can't deny it, racing makes you a better skier

I would probably have a much better outlook on ski racing if the racer kids at 7 springs weren't such brats, or weren't nearly as oblivious as they are doing whatever thay want thinking they own the mountain. It also gets annoying when people think freeskiing takes no skill or talent. I just say that you could take any racer to the park and chances are that they probably could only sidejump, but take almost any freeskier to a course and they could ski it perfectly fine. All in all though, I definitely respect racing.

I respect racing. Some of them are amazing skiers. I don't have a lot of love for focusing your energy so much on one aspect of skiing though. Guys like Bode and Darren to me are great skiers because they can kill it all over the mountain. I would love to see Jon succeed in racing too.
I had friends in racing, I ran a few courses with them. To me skiing was about fun, and what I saw them involved in was not a fun environment. I never saw smiles on the faces of the kids in the race program. On the contrast, one of my closest ski buddies is the head coach at my old mountain's freestyle team. I rode with him and the kids a few times, all over the mountain. They never stopped enjoying yourself.
I know I sound like an idealist saying skiing is all about having fun, and I'm sure a lot of racers genuinely enjoy racing. But for me its always been about skiing all over the mountain, all the terrains, to fully appreciate skiing and not burn out. /end ramble

You may respect racing but clearly have no clue how difficult it really is to be good at it. It takes lots of work like freeskiing and a lot of discipline.
