Who offroads

cost of building a D35 and a yota are almost the exact same except in the end the yota will be able to hand a little more power/tire. Also if you are running a light weight rig (i.e. jeeps/truggys) you don't need the strength of D60/Weight/or the over gerth if you will. I wouldn't run a D60 on a small rig with 37s. If i was to run D60s on a lightweight rig it would be to run 40+ and nothing smaller or else I would just keep the smaller axles. Also you would lose a ton of ground clearance with the D60 and a 37 at which point it would probably make more sense to keep the smaller axle that can handle the abuse and have the clearance of D60 w/ 42s. IMHO

Ill push my yota axles on 40s all day long, but they have a TON of money into them and when they break its gonna be a 60/14b combo with at least 42s.

I do what I can though.

98/99 outback legacy limited? i got a 98 outback legacy that does pretty decent off roading. no crawling or anything but fun as hell to rally forest service roads in

yota axles are hard to find around here for under 1000 for a stock front if you can even find one. i got chevy 60/14b for $200 which will be going under my next yota.

Idk I dont have much cash so i do with what i have.

dude i gotta call BS on that! I grew up on the east coast in VT, MA, and CT and to date ive bought 6 yota front axles all over the east never paid more than $250 (paid $80 for the first two which were complete) for one. I live in Colorado now where yota parts are a LOT harder to come by and more expensive and i've never seen one go over $500. We picked up two for $250ea.

oh and nice deal on the 60/14b i've only been seeing them around $400.

my first search found this and took 1 minute. if you keep an eye out and do your work you can find them way cheaper.

1972 International Scout with a V8, its a muthafuckin BEAST. Its got a sick new paint job too, ill get some pics lata, but yea, I love 4x4'n

$1000 is the price i was quoted by one of the few local yards around here that even have a toyota pickup older than 86. So I have to drive some where like hartford to get one.

Im about an hour north of Albany in New York. Around here you dont even see an 85 or older yota driving on the road.

Idk hopefully im getting this 4runner soon though. Want to bob it but kind of not looking forward to doing the top cause me and fiberglass dont get along

I would never buy one from a junkyard exactly for that reason. Of course they are going to rip you off, unless its a pick n pull. Also im not saying you have to drive to hartford that was just a 2 second search that i pulled up. even so driving 3hrs to pick up an axle is probably worth it if you save $700. I used to see older yotas up there all the time wheelin up at the campgrounds and crazy eights. They are everywhere.

Im not a fan of fiberglass either. I was pretty torn between getting a 4runner and pickup for a while for similar reasons. I am going to bob/dove the next build right away, but with a 4runner I would lose all weather proofing. It would be nice to have that back seat though. Ultimately I am going with a pickup cause I wanna build to handle the toughest trails and still be able to DD it and the 4runner just won't cut it, for me at least.

one another note. I GOT A TUBE BENDER! picked up a JD2 bender with 1 3/4" die and hydraulic assist couple days ago!!!!!!! im right in the middle of finals and now i can't concentrate. I have so many ideas running through my head for my next build now. im thinking partial exo, bars running through the fenders to the front bumper.

anyways here are some pics. first one is the bender! next few are jareds aka [CO]ivie truck with new mods for the summer.
