I bought my 05 scratches fs before the season started. I wanted to find a ski to replace my 169 vinny dorion teneightys which i felt were and are an awesome all mountain twin(and have sustained zero damage from years of use).
There were rossignol reps at the shop when i bought the ski. I was also looking at the dynastar phil pros. They said that the scratch would perform almost exactly the same as the dynastar and was cheaper. I told them i had heard and seen accounts of durability issues with the scratch, and they claimed that these durability issues had been worked out.VTRIDER and anyone else who cares: The new scratch does not have a 'cap to prevent chipping'. And if it does, it is the worst 'cap to prevent chipping' i have ever seen. The topsheet is obviously a totally different, (brittle layer) than the rest of the ski. They are a good ski however, but the chipping turns an already ugly ski (baby blue vampire mug on burgundy background) to an even uglier ski. It is not that I care about how my skis look that pisses me off as much as I felt that the rossignol reps blatantly lied to my face and claimed the construction of the new scratch is different when it, apparently, is not. Rossignol has lost credibility with me. To elaborate on the performance of these skis, I can carve pretty well on them. My ultimate test is to carve in both directions on one foot, and if they bite without washing out, and allow me to feel lateral acceleration while carving on only one ski, i feel they are sufficient on groomers. And, they do indeed bite hard and remain fairly stable. In bumps, they are a soft fairly skinny ski, so they obviously can hold their own. IMO a ski is a ski on rails, and they have held up. Booters, jumps etc. they feel sufficiently explosive, with low swing weight(i have mine mounted on the 'MODERN' setting which i do not believe is quite center mounted) Over the past few weeks, as most of you probably know, Colorado has been dumped on by the heavens. These skis are making me think about buying fat skis cause they just downright suck in the powder. I was going as fast as i could (straightlineing) down runs with powder and i could not keep up with my friend who has madtrix mojos no matter what i did with my weight. I hope this helps anyone.
