I was just wondering who everyone likes right now. I've always really liked the get up kids. I also like the lead singers other band the new amsterdams.

This year I hope to see more kids incorporating newschool with big mountain riding and getting out of the park.-Matt Levintal

I'm pretty sure death cab is. postal srv. is not but it is still worth mentioning, because anyone who likes death cab would be interested in it. Listen to transatlanticism and tell me thats not 'emotional' thus making it emo.

once again....heres a nice definition that ductapeboy gave:

emo is a stupid name for some really good music. it has been around for years with no intrest from the main stream, and it was really good, but now all these stupid pop bands are trying to be emo, totally missing it, and playing shitty shitty music. emo isn't some dude crying. it is a style of playing. it orriginated from punk and hardcore, and is known for being very melodic, and more advanced than punk and instead of traditional rock, hardcore and punk, it generally has two lead guitars that work together to make the melody instead of a lead and a back up. the lyrics range from songs about break ups, to extreme political statements, to songs about cigarets. most emo isn't some dude wining.

oh yea... i forgot to mention the drums... instead of having just fast simple druming like punk, it has intricate hardcore style breakdowns and speed changes. ofcourse it is slowed down a lot from hardcore, but it is definitely not constant like punk or pop.

It's nice so see some other TGUK fans. I've got to say death cab and postal service are emo cause there's no other catagory to put them in.

yeah ive been big on fsf for a while now...but i hate to break it to you all, they are no more as of the summer...

death cab is indie, and postal service would be under alternative electropop or something.

Again, emo has evolved over the years.. first you had sunny day real estate, modest mouse, texas is the reason, alkaline trio, then juliana theory, jimmy eat world, new amsterdams, plus a ton of other smaller bands ..followed by new emopop stuff like all-american rejects, yellowcard, story of the year, ect

im not ripping on any of the stages of emo, they are all good and all influenced each other.

i thought further seems forever went downhill after they chainged from strong arm... lol. no they are pretty good. i really like the new singers voice a lot more thant the old one. that chris carraba dude is way too whiney.

but yeah jason gleason, i believe it is...he has a great voice, but he is apparently an ass. he just flat out quit the band after they had recorded everything for their new album BUT vocals...the band was in total disarray for a while, but in the end he agreed to record the vocals and then quit.

who does that? he singlehandedly ended an awesome band. its a shame.

THE GET UP KIDS Own, by far my all time favourite, the new cd is amazing - so much better than on a wire and Almost as good as something to write home about. DASHBOARD, COHEED,THURSDAY, BRAND NEW, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, SAVES THE DAY, WEEZER(Only the old stuff, gotta love it!) FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER... just to name a couple of em... YELLOWCARD has their occasional good song, 'way away' being one of them. yo dave watch what you say about chris carraba!

...its amazing how many ppl havent heard of any of these bands....when i went to university ppl looked at me like i was nuts when i threw this stuff on my stereo..wierdos..lol

I'm not an emo fan really but i dig Finch if that counts and Jimmy Eat World. But props to the dude who mentioned Park.

Chili Peppers are where it's at... same with a lot of other stuff I'm not gonna post due to severe laziness.

good choice suggarrush.. Juliana Theory is one of my favorite bands ever... i wouldnt say they are really emo anymore, but their evolving sound went along with the evolvement of emo until Love came around.
