my guess is that an orange name was chosen (malcolm) and the system is set not to have them but doesn't take #2
 
If Evo is gonna "sponsor" or "present" the MOTM, then more should go into it to ensure that truly functioning members get chosen. I don't think whatever system is in place is working. It hasn't been for a while now and I think this needs to be changed.

Also, what is up with this new Evo banner? Saw it today for the first time, not the biggest fan.

The programed response, inputting listed info from profiles with generic sentence beginnings ("I ski at...", "I ski on...", "My best tricks are...", etc) is stupid.

 
Not to sound like a dick but I thought it was a shoe in because of the dew tour pics but its fucking great for an active member to win for once.

I think whoever is member of the month should write it, potentially it could be quite funny
 
This is what I think it should be.

Maybe after x amount of days without receiving a submission from said member of the month (i.e. they're not active) then use the bot version. Otherwise let the member write it!

Pretty sure this member of the month got it due to his thread in GT. Makes sense though. Semi-active in the media departments as well I believe.
 
Looking at it again, karma must not factor in thread ratings. He's got like -113 on one of his threads made in January. Lol. Still a decent member.
 
what's up with the new member of the month? has done practically nothing to deserve it and somehow got a ~200 karma exchange over night that put him up there. weird.

I'm not sure why this bothers me. nothing against him, but how in the hell is the member of the month a member of the month??

in July he:

-created 1 thread that's got a total of 1 reply

-uploaded no videos

-uploaded no pictures

-no reviews

-no news articles

-posted little

somehow got a bunch of karma.

I could think numerous members who deserve it far more and have done far more during July than him (half the site has done more)

As usual the member of the month sucks. Not that he sucks, just he doesn't deserve it. Or maybe he does based on the past. I have nothing against members who only buy and sell, but i wouldn't say they contribute to the sight. MOTM is like the pro bowl, can we pleeeeaaaassseeee have some new system or get rid of it altogether?
 
normallyi just would sell and stuff but i had a while off work and had nothing to do so i browsed through most of NS and was very active most of the month which lead to a fair amount of karma 'add-up. im pretty sure the system litterally choosed straight up by the most karma and nothing else. However i do agree that in the future it should be chosen in a way that it is given to someone who was a wizard of posts and karma and media. kind of a combined choosing so it isnt just based on +k.i just wanted to explain myself so dont hate to hard
 
Current member of the month: Benson.

I guess I'm going to give up trying to understand MOTM. I went through his profile.. no news, no reviews, no pictures, no videos, eight mediocre threads, and has been a member for two and a half months.

Either get rid of MOTM completely or manually select a member. Having the karma system pick a member has been an absolute failure for at least a year I think.
 
I agree. It's shit. I have no hate against benson but he really doesn't deserve it. Neither did norton, no offense again, but it sucks when there are people providing good insight in GT or posting good threads/videos/pictures on here and don't win. I know the karma system isn't perfect but still. A manual member of the month should be picked via a community wide poll with top 5 people in the running, selected by red names/mods or by popular demand if someone thinks a member really deserves it.
