Who is the most successful person professionally that you personally know?

If we mark success by how an individual started, what they have achieved, and their level of happiness...

My friend came from a poor Korean family, went to U Penn and graduated summa cum laude. Went on to write for Cosmopolitan in New York, became a rock singer, then met a dude in Paris who happens to be the straight/younger Anderson Cooper of France. They got married and now she writes for Cosmo France, has 2 kids and just finished her MFA from NYU.

I'd call that success.

succes is measured in mulla$$$

My wife has an uncle who got into real estate, small houses and apartment buildings right out of university, invested everything he had and retired at 35. Found he was bored and went back to work at 40, bought a banquet hall and a bunch of land in London Ontario. ran that till his mid 40's and retired again, he's now late 50's. He doesn't flaunt his money or live excessively. He has a nice house in London and a nice house in Florida for the winters. He has an Acura SUV and a BMW and goes on many international trips a year. He is definitely very intelligent and disciplined when it comes to business and money. He's slipped joking over beers that he got into Apple big on the ground level a few times so I'm sure hes doing alright.

My family runs in a pretty high socioeconomic social circle. One family friend sold his company for $300 million... a few are CEO's, many VP's. 'merica!

A good family friend moved here from asia when she was in middle school and went right into the public schools knowing 0 english. She quickly learned the language and graduated valedictorian of both high school and college. Now lives on top of a hill in a custom-built mansion, is a computer programmer, operates a professional photography business, is an excellent gardener, and best cook I know.

I played with a couple of Teemu Selanne's kids, and know him on a first name basis. Also my great uncle was the most powerful military man in Chile at one point

My grandpa and my mom. Grandpa fought in the korean war and nam. After that he climbed radio towers while being a hardware computer engineer and at 76 is still a hardware engineer and dose a hell of a better job than the majority of his co workers. In the tech industry that is a huge accomplishment.

My mom was a project manager for redhat and helped developed the cloud for redhat. Gets paid well enough to drive a a4 quatro fully loaded and paid off in a year.

career wise, probably my dad. although it seems he's always made his career first priority in his life, ahead of family, etc. I guess it's understandable considering his position in the military; he's the chief of defense intelligence for Canada.

Great great uncle played cricket for England, my sister plays rugby for England Under 20s. Mum has worked with Bob Diamond the former CEO of Barclays. I've met the Head of Exploration for Anglo American, CEO of Greenore Gold, and the head of a Rio Tinto project in Namibia

Canada has a military? Does he park his horse in your barn at night to ride to work in the morning?

nothing really that crazy

a guy who started carrot creative-idk what they do exactly but they have huuuge clients, nfl, ford, etc

a guy who was paid 70k a year by Bain to attend Harvard business school at their expense

my friend just had to spend nearly 100k to get a rail road crossing system installed on his driveway. I guess its the state code even on private property.

I am not nearly as financially successful as any of them but I think I have a pretty good ratio of pay earned vs time spent working. I am just not a hardworker and never will be. I used to think I would care about money way more than I do but now that I actually have to earn it I realize I value free time just as much if not more. I just fucking hate doing stuff that I dont want to do, not a good attribute I guess but its not one thats going to change either.

Good family friends with the owner of Otter Box.

Dated the heir to New Belgium Brewery

Went to HS with Dara Howell. My mom's cousin lives beside Ron James (some Canadians might know who that is). My padre taught Hawksley Workman (solo musician/in the Mounties now). He sometimes asks me how uni is going.

After school at Florida surprisingly, he was the national president of whatever the college version is of DECA/business club is. Also had a pretty big online ticket scalping business where he recruited college kids to wait inline/online for concerts throughout the country

I am very close friends with an adult actress. Probably my most famous friend.

This for me as well.

As well as a rapper that has gotten a lot of attention recently. He's still small compared to other people in the game but he really has progressed and worked his way up recently and I'm real proud of him.

Yeah i graduate with one as well. If you want to check her out google "Bell Rose White Dragon." (NSFW)

My basketball coach in elementary school was the legendary Kevin Mchale. I sort of feel ashamed now knowing that I was a garbage player being coached by a legend.

I also lived a few doors down from the CEO of MedTronic.

it isn't much of a secret since she has had cameos in my videos but name dropping isn't cool so i didn't name drop!

My best friend's mum was muse to Yves Saint Laurent back in the 70's. But I guess that hardly counts as professional success.

He played for loads of teams but, the cubbies in the 90s. Kevin Orie.

I remember him quite vividly. LOL don't take offense. But he was part of the reason why Kerry Wood didn't have a perfect game when he struck out 20 batters against the Huston astros in 1998. (had a ball bounce off his glove)

He was a decent player actually and I remember him running for the rookie of the year in 97 I believe.

i know a few somewhat famos people at facebook like mark zuckerburg (not shure if thats how you spell his last name) and shuan parker.

mark was really cool tho super chill too. he dose not wear fancy clothes hes not the kind of fancy rich guy that people think he is.

all these replys are preaty cool

Billy Idol is my Grandma's cousin... I never did the research though to see if they were first cousins or how they are related exactly. Just was told that by my ma back in the day. Hell maybe this belongs in the things I thought I knew but was wrong threads

idk what the fuck professional is supposed to mean, but according to my take on what "professional success" means, I might just have to go with theabortionator.
