Who is the douchiest person you've encountered while skiing?

the people that don't shut up about earning their turns and how its all so much more satisfying.

I hate this, went skiing with a friend of mine and his cousin one time, kept hearing about how good this cousin was at skiing, how much he liked backcountry etc... Dude shows up with an ancient pair of CMH skis (pointed tips, flat tails, bright blue/yellow), dressed like a fucking gorb, and absolutely insists on taking us around the mountain. We end up skiing super dense uncleared glades with about 6 inches of snow and then hiking for an hour in order to get about 4 pow turns in.

In retrospect I shouldn't have followed this asshat around a resort that I knew better than him, but I didn't want to be the guy to tell him he had no idea what he was doing. One of the most ridiculous skiing experiences of my life.

To be clear I skin often enough, but I buy a ski pass for a reason.

my cousin matt races and me and him are cool but he has these fucking asshole racers friends and they come up to me like outa no were and are like oh look its matts cousin who skis park. And started going off on me like oh go smoke some more weed in the park and put some clothes on that fit you. uhhh some racers are just complete assholes

they were just jealous of your dope striped tall tee

Oddly enough these two little fucking shit heads kids that had no business being in the park. They were standing (not skiing) at the top of the landing of a 60 footer, so myself and two friends skied down to them, telling them to move, and one of them, this little 8 year old girl lost her shit and started screaming at us and telling us to "fuck off or I'll tell my dad." By that point we kind of wanted somebody to hit her, so we left.

Shaun white while i was skiing at vail. It was during the 2013 burton us open. he was being really pissy and not stoked to be riding. you can definitely tell he has no passion and just wants the fucking money.

Yup, I pro called him out at Northstar from the chairlift and he was super pissy about that too. Couldn't hear what he yelled at me because he has a little bitch voice, but I'm sure it was douchey.

The biggest douche kids I've met have definitely been at ski camps. I've been to a couple different camps and there are always some kids, usually 9-14, who are rich pricks who brag about how good they are or how many sponsors they have. Don't get me wrong, some of those kids are insane. Last summer at Snowflex there was a 9 year old who could do both way cork 9's. The same kid would often laugh at kids trying to get that 7 or backflip. Really dude? It just seems like all the little kids that are insane shit on kids that maybe just got into skiing who are trying to slide their first rail or straight air their first jump.

i actually had the complete opposite thing happen to me at ski camp. I was working on 180 cubans and i fell and sliced open my arm right above my elbow and this 14 year old kid who i just saw throw a double back came over and gave me his bandana to hold on the cut. dude was so fucking chill and awesome

Unfortunately I've met many a douche at the hill but the other day I was in line at winter park when this snowboarder in front of me quite loudly bitched and whined to his friends about how the runs must have been designed by "retards."

I really wanted to say that winter park was designed about 50 years before snowboarding was popular and that he was pussy for whining on such a beautiful day but I thought better of it...probably wouldn't have changed his mind.

so some of the biggest jerks ive met are the ones when i am trying to learn a new trick and i keep falling and they come up and stomp it clean as fuck and just stop and glare at me then ski away laughing.

it kinda sucks

keep ya head up

People that talk loudly in a quiet lift line about something they hit or skied, and exaggerate how good it really was (if they don't know any better, then that would be different, they might be gapers.)

Also, people that use the word gapers to feel good about themselves (apparently not being one themselves.)

Also, I spoke to some park lapper called Otto in Whistler and he claimed to be sponsored and said how much he loved skiing with friends and how eating Sushi made him feel clean. Might have been wearing Saygay. Douche.

I asked him to give me a play by play about how he got his pass pulled at keystone and he pretty much admitted to disrespecting yellow jackets and tried to fight one of the security gaurds. I lost my shit when he tried to say he could fight.

Biggest douches I continuously come across on the mountain are younger (14-17 year old) park rat kids in high school skiers and snowboarders. Constantly cursing and just have a ridiculous attitude that they run the show when the majority of them are horrendous skiers outside of the park. This weekend rode up the gondola with a bunch of high school park rat snowboarders and another dad and his young kid. They were cursing, talking about weed, etc. There was a little kid on the lift with us

Still in uniform, I went to round the day out with some runs for myself after ski instructing at Snowmass. I was taking the gondola back to the main village to catch the bus and a fat texan with his wife get on with me. We're talkin the most stereotypical whatever-reptile-skin-jacket wearing rich redneck kind of guy you can think of. He struck up conversation with me about what my uniform was for and for some reason, and when I told him, he decided to begin insulting me about my lifestyle. He told me to "That's not a real job. Get a real job, join the army. learn some discipline". I was speechless, so I just pointed to the Aspen/Snowmass sticker on my helmet that said "My life is better than your vacation".

did you ask him what his job was? id be really curious.

"get a real job, join the army" is classic though hahaha. not that i don't have mad respect for our military, half my family is military, but that statement is just begging to get ripped apart

I don't remember. It was pretty obvious he was a vet though. The conversation definitely involved more than me pointing to my sticker, but it was years ago so I don't remember anything more. I think I asked him "who would do all the domestic jobs if everyone had a real job in the Army?" Pretty sure. He thought domestic meant his wife in the kitchen.

haha yep. gotta love when someone is so far up their own ass they think everyone should have the same life as them

it's like, how would you be taking this ski trip without people working these jobs...? same kind of idiot person who looks down on janitors and food servers etc

Texans are the worst people on the mountain.

I ended up on a two person lift once with a snowboarder (In his late 30's) who felt he was to good to share anything with skiers. He complained for the entire ride up how I just had to get on with him, which was not my decision given there was a huge line behind us and the lift operator wanted every chair full (understandably). His last words when we got off the lift were "Have a nice life asshole" I then watched him eat it on a box which he went 50-50 on.

As for the douchiest person of all time. I think that title goes to this guy...

Friend was trying switch backflip for the first time. Called his drope and threw it, ended up sketching out and goin down on the landing. Snowboarder came from the other side of the park, ignored all the people warning him off the jump including someone signaling in front of it, and landed on my buddy. Snowboarder then proceeded to have a his system fit and was tanning off his shirt to fight. The altercation ended very fast when 7 other skiers slid down and stood next to our friend.

I was at my ski resort with my bro when i was 10 and there must've been like 30 people there cause it was freezing, so we decided to bomb down the bottom part of one of the hills and when we got to the bottom some middle aged lady stopped us and started screaming at us about how we could have killed someone even though there was no one on the entire hill, after the rant she tried to turn around and ski away but caught her edges and fell flat on her face. Priceless.

middle age men who snowboard, snowboarders from NJ, snowboarders who drive a WRX with grenade sticker.

Not defending them but the grenade sticker and that age snowboarders from NJ are for a reason. Most of them grew up riding Mountain Creek when Danny Kass was on the come-up/ the shit. The attitude is fucked but they're supporting local.

When I was like 12 I was first to the lift line out of all my friends, and since it was clear I skied to the end of the line and stood completely off to the side. Some like 40 year old douche with a Boston accent and his kid(about 5 years old) show up,he asks me "Are you gonna go or what?" I said, "No, I'm waiting for my friends, you can go ahead of me." he replied with "Well you're blocking the whole line." He then proceeded to pull his kid along, pulling him so hard that he double ejected and faceplanted, to which he said while helping his kid get up, "Thanks alot asshole!". I was just like "Chill out I'm not even in your way, that wasn't remotely my fault." He then got up in my face and asked multiple times if I wanted to get fucked up and told me to shut my fucking mouth, right in front of his toddler. When I got to the top my friends and I heard him bragging about how he put some punk kid in his place in the lift line. Dude was such a fucking tool.

a snowboarder cut off my friend once, so my friend cut him off back, the snowboarder waited at the bottom of the hill for my friend and next thing i know my friend blasts him full speed. and i mean completely drilled this dude... so meanwhile I'm at the top of this jump and i see the snowboarder get out of his board and start hammering my friend in the face.. moral of the story my friend got his ass beat by a boarder ;'(

I'm not condoning violence or anything, and I definitely think that theres certain scenarios where it's better to just walk away.

That being said, this thread leads me to believe a good majority of skiers are huge pussies. I mean I understand if you walk away from an idiot just talking shit, no reason to ruin a good day with an altercation. However if the guy touches me, my girlfriend, or anyone I'm with he's getting laid out. I feel like that's just common sense..

inb4 someone calls me out for being an internet tough guy..

All I can think of is some guy in a lift line skiing up to you and simultaneously touching you, your girlfriend, and anyone you're with and then skiing away with a loud Dr. Evil laugh.

Or just zoidbergs away. "Woop woop woop woop woop woop"

when i switched to skiing last season, i bought a new pair of atomic infamous' with some rossi axial 2's after trying a friends set a few times to see if i could do it. I had thought about switching so i saved my cash over summer for a new setup.

The second day i went out a few of the local "park rats" gave me shit when they asked my "best trick" and i told them i had simply just started, and planned on moving onto park once i get the basics down. They kept asking why i have skis like that if i cant even do anything. I wasnt even in the park... I was at the top of a run waiting for my other buddies to meet me.

It almost motivates me to progress a lot this year so next time i can just shut them up.
