hey, the season is fast approaching, and im just curious to where folks are skiing? this forum has been pretty dead lately, which is strange at this time of year. I will be at Lakeridge, and will be in the cat building the parks, skiing in the parks and pipe when I'm not grooming... Ill also be spending some time at MSLM because its awesome. What about you?

I couldn't make up my mind this year, so I just didn't end up buying a pass. All the resorts around Toronto are just so expensive for passes, and our season is so short it makes it hard to get your money out of them. I'll probably end up mostly at Louis this year, maybe a few trips out to dag and the ridge

Ah boler. They stopped making only a big table, right?

I'm going to get a 5x7 for Glen Eden. A grad student friend of mine said he'd be willing to do that, and I can at least get out there on weekdays I'm not teaching. Might see about MSLM a few times this winter too.

Last two seasons they've had 2 decent jumps, nothing spectacular, but not that bad compared to past seasons

Cool. Knowing the jumps are a bit better definitely makes it more likely I toss my gear underneath the greyhound if I'm headed down to London. I spent most evenings while I was in highschool at Boler, and I'm kind of interested to see the expansion too -- I remember when it was called Hill 2000, more than a decade later and it's done.

Blue, the park this year is going to be completely re-done, lots of new features, pipe is moving, new snowmaking - should be awesome. Their park will definitely be the best that's convenient for me.

yea, Chuck, one of the park supervisors is really pushing boler to step up their park. They bought an airbag for this season, I personally would have bought some new jibs before an airbag but w/e. The new hill is pretty cool finnaly being able to ski on it.

i'm sorry man, but the flat down box is the only remotely good feature in the boler park. I stop in there sometimes when I'm visiting people in london, and it just needs a lot of work

I talked to the guy who runs the park there too, and if he bought an airbag instead of investing in new rails it really just confirms what an idiot he is. Your rails are like a thousand years old and all slide like they have three inches of rust on them. The park crew is lazy as crap and wastes the only decent jibs you guys have on making stupid ass features (ie close out rail, ultra steep down rail, rainbow box to flat). I rode a jump there once and it literally had two lips on one takeoff, i didn't know that was possible

IMO if they moved the park to the new hill, revamped the park crew to people who actually care enough to think, and invested in two or three new rails, you guys could have a moderately decent terrain park. It's better than nothing I know, but it needs a lot of work

i know what your saying and somewhat agree but, it's not really the park crew's fault, they just work with what they have. I doubt that choosing an airbag over new jibs had anything to do with the park crew, it would be boler who pushed that idea because it is more profitable then some new boxes. I didn't really say that boler was any good, or that people should go out of there way to ski there. All i ment was the park in the eyes of someone who skies their 5-6 times a week, has really improved from 3-4 years ago. Honestly if you ski almost anywhere else in ontario, your going to think boler is a shit hole. The main focus for as long as i can remember was for them to open the new hill, now that thats finally done they might be able to financialy support having a decent park.

Not trying to make excuses for why boler has a shit park, just trying to say thats there's alot more to it then just saying that "the park crew are lazy idiots."

Ill be skiing at Jay peak and Mont Bromont this season as I no longer reside in Onterrible.

My two cents though is just to go and ride louis. Best park on the east coast of Canada easily if not the best park on the east coast of North America.

Louis is the shit

ya fair enough, sorry I wasn't trying to hate and I know there's some financial constraints on the hill right now that aren't the park's fault, it just reminds me a lot of the position glen eden was in about 5 years ago where there just wasn't a tonne of thought that was put into the features that were built

but you're right, I think now that the new hill is built it'll bring more people in london to ski, which will give the mountain more money to put into the park

Skied boler all my life, still will when I go home one weekends, but I got a 5 x 7 at glen this season. Chuck is a sick guy, kirby is a bit lazy, but there's some new skiers on the park crew (AWALLRUS and my buddy Kyle), so it should be even better this year. If they get more snow that last year it should be decent for a hill made out of a garbage dump hahah

as of last year there were 2 people on the park crew + 2 volunteers (one of my friends and I) who helped open/close. we also got jack shit in funds for the park until last year, when we didn't have enough snow to work with. we got an airbag because an airbag at boler means maaaaad gaper $$$. and I don't know if you've been to the new hill, but it's a shitty place for a park. which is why we're taking over the lane underneath the park chair this year.

also the closeout was the tits

Dagmar this year, I'm on parkstaff and this year will be INSANE, we've recently expanded to having 4 parks now so the beginners will be not in the way of the bigger parks. Our quad chair 'Big Daddy' is now a park only dedicated chair. plus ontop of the new features last year we got even more. Currently we're at about 55+ rails and then jumps will be ontop of that and more are getting built.

Here's a picture of all rails and boxes (not all are in the photo)

hey Cwood, if big daddy is going to be a park only chair, are the other 2 parks going on hawks hurst and that other run? I heard Bowler got cut from being head park staff also

where are the other two parks or did they make new runs? That is a ridiculous amount of rails i wish they had those when i was younger and not a pansy!

bromont and jay peak, not living in ontario anymore ! and when i make it home be hitting up dagmar for shizzle. Their park looks like its gonna pretty sick this year

i go to school in nova scotia now so I guess martock and wentworth

interested to see how Dag is this year. and Blue too probs only get to ski them on christmas. the beav usually has a pretty fun park too

Come to Dagmar, you won't be disappointed. The big park is so much fun right now, and great features in it
