how far is it from LA to skiing anyway?
i´m going to north america in 2-3 years as an exchange student. probaly vancouver so i can ski whistler bu i´m thinking about california so i can ski mammoth and surf.

LA is so big its hard to say, but from downtown about 2 hours to skiing at snow summit and big bear. Crappy snowfall but some of the best parks in the world. Then its about 4 hours to Mamoth. A whole different leauge of mountains!

SoCal is my resting place. one more year here in whistler and it's LA straight up for my ass. Unless I still like skiing in which case I'll head out to mammoth for a little while and then back to LA... greatest place in the world. I know that doesn't help at all but thought I'd share.

I'm in LA, well kinda, I'm in a suburb which is in between Los Angeles County and Orange County. I'm about 10 min away from Anaheim (think Disneyland, getboards.com, anaheim angels/ducks, whatever gets you off). Snow summit is 1:45 minutes away, depending on the way you drive. If you're really desperate for slopes, you have Mtn. high which is 45 mins from me (no mtn driving!! is their motto)

yah well beleive me, when you are skiing or in the industry 365 days a year, you'll get tired of it a lot quicker.

I was born and raised behind the orange curtain. I spent the past two winters in mammoth, But I come home to Orange County every summer. Snow summit is sick, their super park probably has the best flow of any park I've ever skied, their regular park is sick to, you just have to watch out for the insane number of JP Walker, and Kevin Jones look a likes sliding around on their asses.
