i've skiied on the newer 1080's and i think they suck balls compared to other twins i've used - they're too torsionally flexy, and are too quick edge to edge. they have that typical salomon trait where they skim around when you're going straight trying to find an edge, it feels like chattering but the ski is actually just trying to get on edge. they turn too easily for my liking, so i guess they're not so good if you want to ski with effort and energy.
i have pocket rocket's because at the time they were the only fat twin avaliable down here, and they're alright. good in slush, but i don't like the feeling of the ski underfoot, it just feels too weak and thin, unlike, for example, the public enemy which feels 'thick' and bombproof. whatever, i can't describe it. i think there are far better fat twins then the pockets.
i would love to ski the lab pro models but they're way too big, they should make them in a smaller size, that'd rule.
i've also skiied the crossmax and thought they were pretty crap - chattery as hell for a fucking skiercross ski. i do use salomon boots though and they're fucking awesome, so the company isn't all bad.
