i hate all those people who listen to bloody emo music like simple plan and stuff like sum41 and good charlotte why dont the listen to real music

 
no emo kids listen to simple plan, sum41 and good charlotte. i happen to like emo, but not those bands. know what you're talking about before you post dumbass.

Theres a song by country singer Alan Jackson. Its called 'When Somebody Loves You." Well that means country is emo. And theres a post grunge/alternative band, Silverchair. They have a song called 'Miss you love.' Damn theres that love emotion again. I guess they're emo too. And all those hardcore bands, with their angry lyrics. Guess what, anger is an emotion, so they're all emo as well.

Point is, every song has emotion in it, and emotion is not what solely defines an emo band.

Emo sucks ass, that is not punk man, sooo bad. There is so much better stuff out there then the mentioned emo bands. haha led zeplin and jmi hendrix, why don't you go back to the 70s man. Ska and most indie bands are where its at.

i hate good charlot and simple plan, but man i donno what your talking about sum 41 is not emo, they have one slow song and all of a sudden there emo. IF you listen to them they have songs (their earlier stff) that are punk to hard rock (there newer stuff)

i don't say emo is the only true music, so when i'm happy i don't hear emo,because this only pulls you down. but some times its really cool to listen to, and there are definetly emo-singers that know a lot about songwriting, but everyone can write a punk /grunge song...

Can someone describe to me what emo music is? I find it funny how everyone has an opinion, but no one can actually describe what makes a band emo. Why isn't simply plan emo? and why is underoath? just looking for some guidance here.

simple plan is pop, not emo! same with good charlotte and sum41! emo is like jawbreaker, midtown, weezer, amd taking back sunday.

 
simple plan and good charlotte are emo, but commercialized nasal mall punker emo, so not many emo kids will associate themselves with them. I'm not a fan of emo but people can like what they want to and i'm not going to say its gay or anything

So if the topics commonly discussed in emo music: "personal and relationship politics", are sang by band with similar musical styles: "any form of guitar-driven alternative rock" but have reached a level of wide popularity, they are now known as a pop band? basically the only conclusion I can make here is that emo music is pop bands before they make it big...

ya pop and emo are different. usually emo bands arnt quite as much sellouts. i will give them that. the music is a bit different too.

I would say Pop music is more about the catchy hook and the vocals that are more... well...poppy. Emo however is has the more emotionaly-charged lyrics, and generally has more of a Punk Rock feeling.

But if you want some reeallly good music, just look at ska!

^all of those bands/rappers are technically emo, because they all are "emotional" or talk about emotions

but realistically, every song ever made is "emo" because music is supposed to deal with, you guessed it, emotions. songs are meant to set you in a mood, from radiohead to 50 cent. and they all probably succeed if you listen to them long enough.
