Who hates the safty bar...

i don't have any strong feelings about the safety bar, it's never saved me, and most of the time my legs are too long for my feet to fit on that little bar. I went skiing with my cousins once (mistake) and every time i got a lift with them they'd crack the bar over my head... tools

I went out to Tahoe this year (im from NY) and a lot of the lifts out there didnt even have safety bars

At Okemo(VT) some little shithead had the bar down spit his gum out tryed 2 c where it would go, fell under the bar, his aunt grabbed him by the hood, and then waited for the highest drop and let go..........I think he broke his leg an arm and got pretty fucked up.......I laugh at the irony that the "saftey" bar was down and some asshole still falls off

saftey first

i hate when fuckers dont tell you they are putting it down and WHAM you get whacked in the back of the head with it. annoying as hell

i just hate it when your cramed in and the adults and gapers put it down and your just like NOOOO keep the bar up cause you get squaished in even more.

yea it sucks when your on the lifts with gapers who are all anal about the bar, and i think its dumb to put them down on low speed chairs, but if your on a highspeed you should always put them down. a safety bar saved my life, or at least saved me from a ton of pain and a potential end to my skiing career.

last year late in the season, i was skiing at sugarbush in vermont, pretty much the only one on the mountain. there was a lot of snow melting, and the power station flooded or something. long story short the fuses at the mountain blew, bringing all of the chairs to a DEAD stop.

anyway, the chair proceeded to rock back and forth, getting above 90 degrees to the ground both ways, and swinging wildly. every time the chair went back, i would get pushed against the safety bar, pretty much hanging on it.

i would have fallen out of the chair if i hadnt had the bar down, and fallen at least 35 feet to the ground.

i'll put it down 90 percent of the time, i just hate when im sitting on the end and jerks crush my arms. always check with people before you put it down cause getting smacked with a big aluminium thing hurts alot

If its near the end of the day and your getting a bit tired or if the lifts are getting blown round its not too bad to have. but most other time i dont even think about putting it down.

at snowpark you will probably see about 5 chairs all day with the bar down.

but the bar can also be good for balance when your snowballing some gapers

Only bar I'll ever put down is on the Red Dog chair at Squaw Valley.. 220 feet above the ground is fucking scary... i'd be freaked to download on it too.. Thats another 30 feet up...

When I was riding in CO end of the 0/07 season, NOBODY seemed to put the bar down. Ever. But in NZ in the north island, Ruapehu, everybody puts it down. I never put it down myself, and the 10 or so times in NZ that i havent had it down was when I was riding with people who start talking in different languages. Personally I don't mind it, especially if your sorting out your helmet goggles hat whatever and you can clip your helmet onto the bar.

freaking hate those things. some old gaper threw it into the back of my neck and knoked me off when i was like 12. almost never put it down since

most of the time i like not having it down, but when you have shinbang its nice to put it down and rest your legs on it.

I only hate the bar when gapers immediately slam it down before your skis are off the ground and they refuse to put it up until they're skis touch down again.

I once tried to slam it on my friends nuts, and karma hit me. The bar slammed into my leg before it hit his crotch and gave me the worst charlie horse of my life. Something that would have been a dick move on my part ended up shitting on me.

AHAHAH YES ! but i personally am fond of the safety bar probably cause i have one dumbass friend that would get kick out of pushing you off and because its nice to rest on and stuff

Condom.

and the bar really doesnt bother me.

i dont really like heights without like some sort of barrier.

yo while i was at PCMR, a snowboarder of all people, pulled the bar down on my head, almost knocking me off the chair into some trees. so i say fuck all bars, i never use em

i hate when places make you put it down....or when the silly kids slam it on my head...then i yell at them. but its like how in mass they make you wear your seatbelt. hi my life my choice.

but anyway funny story about saftey bar. someone left it down...or slammed it so hard it went back down...i donno...but a bunch of my kids i helped coach were waiting for the chair to get on and the bar was down and took them all out at the same time. funniest thing i have ever seen. of course like good coaches and teammates we all pointed and laughed. it was classic!!!

if you've ever been on a high speed chair when the belt gets caught falling off the track, you love the safety bar. it happened to me one time when i had the bar down (thank god). i was flung into the bar so hard i got winded and dropped my poles. if i had kept the bar up like i would usually do, i would've landed in a very gnarly rock garden. i always pull the bar down ever since then. i do hate when somebody is too quick to pull it down though and slams it down on your head before your skis have even left the ground.

she speaks the truth, a safety bar broke in half when my dad was on the chair. Half of the chairs are roped off because they dont even have a safety bar though.
