personally i enjoy the freedom of not havign to out down the bar.. dont get me wrong its a great rest after youve been shreding but laws forcign us to put them down... kinda wack

i like the saftey bar its nice to rest on but it just sucks when they force it down and it like hits u in the head or something

That safety bar has saved me countless times in high wind. beyond that its only purpose is to hit me in the head when gapers slam it down before the chair even gets off the ground.

Only when the zealous bastards don't warn me. Another reason to wear a helmet, but that doesn't save the groin.

Frankly, sometimes my feet need a rest.

i wish there was another way to block them from slammgin it ive tryed putting my arm back and holding the back part and putting my arm on the side where it closes but it always ends up getting crushed and me gettign reported to ski partol

i love it. you can rest on them. they sometimes provide foot rest thingies and the one at where i ride makes noise unless you put it down so we always do.

smashing a gaper with the bar is almost as lucky as rubbign buddahs belly.. it almost entitles you to a great run

at my home mountain (Tyrol Basin in Wiscomtpon) it honestly seems like 99.9% of the people don't ride with the bar down. i bet you could sit on the hill for 10 minutes and watch the lift and not see one chair with the bar down. shit, one time I rode up with two ski patrolers and they didn't even put the bar down, it's not enforced at all

whoa slow down people since when is it a law to put the saftey bar down.....but its a good rest for my feet when my boots sometimes get uncomfortable at the end of the day

i fuckin hate getting smacked in the head it seems to only happen on days i don't rock a helmet

same.

if its a hard day, ill usually leave it down for like the first half to stretch my legs, then put it down for the rest to rest them on. but the majority of the time i just put it down

(claim ik) but i ski in the east and when i went to alta there were like no safety bars at all it was sick

when the gapers put the bar down to fast, you gotta start singing ridiculous music to annoy them back.

I don't always put it down, usually cuz I forget, but I try to put it down. One of my buddies was at nakiska, near calgary, and he fell like 30-40 ft to ice and broke both of his legs. That scared the shit out of me.

the resort would be fucked if somebody fell off b/c there was a bar not down though, so they sort of have to do it.

its not my favorite thing on some lifts but i put it down if im the lift alone. usually i let othe rpeople keep it up, but depending ont he lift (really high off the ground or just a shitty lift) i put it down

i had a bruised elbow for a few weeks because a gaper closed the bar on my arm so hard, i fucking hate it. i never use it so when i ride the chair with gapers they always hit me because i'm not expecting it. vermont also never enforces the state law, i've never been asked to put it down

well son they sure are convinient when ya'll been jus skiing down a whole run without stoppin and ya'll's thighs are just burnin like a burger patty on the fourth of july!

I like the safety bar cuz my friends will try to push me off if there isn't one. Plus, I fell insecure without a bar.

Im fine with it if they ask first, which it seems like most people do... but come to think of I pretty much went the entire year without having someone put it down, but I guess I dont ride the safety bar lifts that often~

I hate getting on the lift with gapers if the bar has foot rests. you can pretty much guarantee they will pull it down before you have your poles out the way. otherwise they will find some way to hit you in the head with it. or god forbid, if the bar has vertical handles on it to pull down on.. no doubt they will slam the bar down and crush ya nuts. honestly whats the need to pull it down so fast. the first wee bit you're hardly even off the ground.

aside from crazy gapers pulling it down way too fast I like having the bar down. its stopped me falling off a coupla times if we've had an emergency stop or something. also its nice having it down if you have a pack on too.

its nice to rest on and its saved my life a few times

only thing i don't like is when it slams down and lands on some part of your body, i had my hand crushed by one once and this guy sitting next to put his skis on the rest thing which put more pressure on my hand, and he was french, so he didn;t understand the problem for ages..that really hurt.

In Europe it's always been obligatory, it really surprised me that it wasn't in the States. I think it's actually really useful in windy days

Its funny when people freak out when you dont put it down. Like the chair is going to fall off the cable or something.

meh, I have no problem with it, its a good place to rest those heavy pow skis on a pow day, or if your tired at any time, and sometimes i like to lean forward on it for even more relaxation

I don't mind it unless some family gets on and the second we start going they swing it down as fast as they can. It pisses me off
