Who has watched the "kohl schoening promotional video"?

so technically if there is a really good big mountain skier that can't do anything in the park, they are bad as well? because apparently u hace to be able to do both nowadays eh
 
this is just my opinion. the first edit for kohl's promo was posted over in the movie maker crew where i commented on it there. this edit is definately a lot better, the first being way to slow.

anyway like a said the first time around, i think the cliff drop should have been taken out. reps/managers see a lot of peeps videos/new talent out there and it degrades from the rest of the video, especially since it was the only drop. im not ragging on him for BC or anything but you have to realise the impression that gives to potential sponsors. everything in a promo video should be "promoting" you, and the cliff drop really doesnt "promote" you in anyway.

the only thing else is with a promo vid you really do want to show variety as a skier. some of the tricks seemed redundant. i think you are a good skier but to promote yourself you have to be showing how you bring something to the sport that no one else does. it just kinda felt like a lot of the tricks in the vid were repeated, thats all.

other than that, to the haters you just talk shit, at least this guy kohl is putting together a promo vid and making an effort.
 
i think he looks like he can ski fine. and i dont think newschool skiing is your thing, maybe yuo should join a racing website so you can criticize how his arms are too lose and shit. if that video makes you upset at all, then you really shouldnt consider yourself a freestyle skier
 
kohl is 16 years old, and kills it. the promo was nothing short of great. rails and jumps where both strong, but i liked his style most. laided back and smooth. he did have some nice back country booters. but overall i dont know kohl but he seems like a nice, not to cocky kid who enjoys sking. so i say keep doing what you are doing, which is killing it
 
first of all i just watched the vid like 2 seconds aago and it was sick, and i know there really isnt any reason for me to comment because everyone here has pretty much said it all but i just had to saay something, "u are a big part of whats wrong with this ski industry", no sir you are whats wrong with this ski indusrty, having your own style is what makes this sport better, if everybody tried to have the same style it would be so boring. so in conclusion the person who made this threead should never comment again about anyones skiing

because our sport would progress a lot faster, and we wouldnt have so many people with similar styles, if a lot of park skiiers out there realised that a good skiing ability is necessary before you can really dominate the park, so dont just go straight to the park beofre youve honed your technique on the mountain. it would allow for a lot greater technicality and individuality (and thus progression) IN MY OPINION

who are you to say what "good" is?

quite honestly, i'd rather see people that are self taught and good skiers, than people that have grown up learning how to ski a specfic way, because there's going to be some straying from the norm...

you're contradicting yourself saying that skiers must learn how to ski a certain way, and then saying it will allow for more unique styles.

this thread should have died like, after the 3rd post.
 
my point was that this is a promo vid...im all for having fun and being yourself i hav said that throughout the whole thread...but this guy wants to be sponsored, and people who are sponsored are people companies see as the future of the sport/opinion leaders/icons...and these people influence GREATLY our sports progression and image. he is someone who is not solely doing the sport for fun, otherwise he wouldnt make a promo vid. and im sorry for using u as an example again here kohl

also kohl is part of a crew that prolly has the most fun of all. but i cannot reveal this crew.

are you kidding me? I love skiing more than anything, and thats why i do it. I made a promo because I thought it would help me get hooked up with companies. Again your judging me from the video which has no proof of that.

yea dude i hate skiing but i just want sponsors......wtf
 
im tired of all this park skiing isnt good enough. its been goin all year. everyone has their own taste its not ur problem.

also he was shootin a promo for a park related ski company of the sort. all promos are park skiing. do u see any all pbig mountain skiing promos? no

i ski in pennsylvania so i have no choice but to ski park.

and his back country skiing isnt that bad the one time he went off the cliff is skis got stuck in the powder and he ejected.

just worry bout urself and not about someone u know nothin about
 
i think makin a sponsored video and gettin sponsored is more tryin to have more fun for the sport. now he gets free skis and doesnt have to worry about gettin money for new skis and spend the extra money to ski more at different mountains and go on more ski trips.

your talking about image of the sport. ur settin a real good example for the image of the sport by bitchin about how someone doesnt ski the way u want him to.

gettin sponsored and tryin to go pro isnt progressin the sport? who would people look up to and try and ski like if no one made a sponsor video
 
kohl just IMed me and we wer talkin about utah and alta and hittin some big stepdowns in the gultch but then it hit me. he isnt allowed to leave the park, how stupid of me. seriously kohl maybe u forgot but u arent allowed to ski anything but park maybe u missed it but theres a 5page thread that has specific details on why you are simply a disgrace to the sport. i think he even may have mentioned the word "fun" in our conversation. so i immediatley knew he was lying.
 
He isn't about fun, he's about making mooney and coporate sponsors and skiing groomed park. He's gay and can't shred.
 
uhm, apparently kohl wants to ski park, does it matter if hes not seth morrison out of the park. And getting sponsored isnt always about being the future of the sport. Its about finding someone that can represent the company well, and being able to give the company more exposure, especially POSITIVE exposure, and not being a dick. since were on the subject RED RED Films new movie Untold Joys of an Unsound Mind kicks ass.
 
who cares how other people ski, i see a lot of kids who own transitions but suck at regular skiing, but i couldnt care less.

PS kent kreitler says the stupidest shit the ski industry has ever seen, who is he to define what a "skier" is??
 
^ any publicity is good publicity. take 9ward for example, tons of kids talk mad shit about them. but at the end of the day they have a dope team and sell tons of dope skis. schoening, i think this is a good thing.

that means u hav another motive aside from having fun, because obviously we all ski for fun. and that other motive is you wanting to become an iconic figure, because thats what sponsored athletes are and thats why companies sponsor athletes...to sell theirshit by developing iconic figures
