Who has fish?

I have had my tank up for a couple months now, I have a blue gourami, red tail shark, bala shark, zebra, a pleco, and 2 jack dempsys i bought yesterday. my gourami was being a bitch and killed my other gourami a zebra and two other fish i had, so i bought the two jacks to kick the shit out of him. i will see if it worked when i get home today.

so anyway any body else have a tank set up?

we have a big fish tank in our house. No idea what kind of fish are in it though.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

 
we have a 55 gallon tank and it used to have a bunch of fish but now its got a painted turtle, a couple upside-down catfish, an eel, and whatever feeder fish are left. there used to be a newt named isaac but it died.

i have two goldfish, but they might be dead, they don't move much and are on the botttom.

Jack dempseys with those other fish... dude those a very VERY aggressive cichlids... They get 8 inches long and WILL murder the ALL of your fish sooner or later. (maybe not the pleco.) What is this 'zebra' that you are talking about?

In a 20 gal with extra filtration I have a polypterus, a silver gar, an african butterfly fish, and two firemouth cichlids.

I love fishtanks. I'm the biggest fishtank geek ever. If i had the money I would probably own about 10.

 
I have fishies in my freezer... They're filletted, though, or jarred. Yumyum, I caught the salmon this summer. So good.

i know the jacks are nice and agressive but that gourami pissed me off, i would like to get all african cichlids but i only have a 10 gal. i also thought about making it a 'shark' tank with maybe a couple loaches cause they look similar in body. plus i bought the gourami at meijer (a local grocery and department store)and there are no local pet stores in the area. so i have no where to sell it back too.

Jacks in a 10.. really sketchy... they'll out grow it in a few months... but meh, its not my tank.... is this 'zebra' you are talking about a zebra loach? or a convict cichlid or somethiing?

 
Sorry to burst your bubble but jacks aren't african cichlids... they are actually from central america. And african cichlids are super hard to keep. You need hard water a big tank and fish that are compatable.

 
martin......dave still has fish...they are our fish...we have 6 fish...5 goldfish and one coy. they are so pretty and healthy. ill post a pic in a minute.

yeah i got confused i can never remember which ones are african cichlids and which are south americans. if the jacks kill everybody else i will prolly get another couple fish that get quite large (oscars) i know its sketchy but in april or may i will be moving and have to get rid of them anyway so it really doesnt matter. my dad had a tank of africans and they were really cool looking but after 3 or 4 months something went funny and within the course of two weeks they were all dead. now he has south americans. some rams heads(very cool looking), firemouths, jacks, tiger oscars, and something else i dont remember i think.

sounds like a nice tank... I hope its big though... the suggested tank size for just 1 oscar it 45 gal and for 2 75. I had oscars for 2 months on my 20 gal but they out grew it really quik so i had to take them back. :( They are the coolest most intelligent fish though. You can tell what kind of mood they are in when they turn light and dark. 2 convict cichlids might be nice in a 10 gal. They have amazing personality like oscars and jacks but don't grow really big and fast.

I have quite a lot of Koi fish. We bring them inside in the winter so they don't freeze to death and back outside in the spring/summer. I think I have about 20 maybe...5 really big ones and the rest are medium size.
