Who has been to Yellowstone/Tetons/Jackson?

Hey guys so a buddy of mine recommended that I hop on here and ask for advice. Since I'm a fellow skier and adventurer, I was hoping you could help. Has anyone been to/done the Yellowstone, Teton Park, Jackson loop? Any advice on free camping or what to see while you're there? I'm doing a road trip from the Cali coast to the east coast in May and was wondering if anyone had some good insider tips/info on that particular area? We have about 3 days to see them all, not trying to stay there too long because we have other places to go. Any advice is great, thanks!

I went on a family vacation through there a few years ago. I don't know much in the way of specifics, but you should probably do one day in Jackson and two in Yellowstone because Yellowstone is quite a bit bigger. It's absolutely beautiful. I know that for sure. Oh and watch for animals while driving. They're everywhere, and they're big.

One of my favorite places in the world. For The tetons you could do the popular hike to inspiration point, but there is alot more out there if you dont want to be surrounded by tourists. For yellowstone spend a couple of days driving through. If you really want to see the parks though you should spend a couple of days backpacking in each.

Honestly I don't remember, but theres plenty of information out there and you could call park services and ask them, etc. Have fun with the trip man.

I just got back from Jackson and it was beautiful, we hiked to some hot springs and stuff, i definitely recommend yellowstone too, although i haven't been there for a few years.. but i have no idea about free camping!

Yellowstone is amazing if i can get enough money for gas i will definitely be driving out there this summer.

For sure, thanks guys. Also, would you recommend the best route as being Yellowstone down through the Tetons into Jackson? Seems like the most logical and there's that scenic highway (forget the name of it) running right down through them.

Also, what is the access like to the Teton Nat'l Park from Jackson? Is it far? Would staying in Jackson for a night or two and accessing the Tetons be a little bit of a stretch or is it super convenient? Thanks!

I live in Jackson right now, lived in Grand Teton park all summer long.

As far as driving to the park from town, it's literally a ten to fifteen minute drive to the south entrance of the park. But that's during the off season. In the summer, this shit is packed. So expect a little longer. Staying in the park is awesome, (2 resorts, Signal mountain lodge, where I work. And Jackson Lake lodge) Those will be way expensive. I'd recommend staying in town just to get the experience. Or you can stay at the Hostel in Teton Village which is only a few minutes from the other entrance to Teton park. There is a scenic highway that you'd end up traveling down to or from Yellowstone anyways. And that is the only way to access the park.

Let me know if you need help getting things situated or figuring out where to stay. I can maybe get discounts at Signal or free campsites. Let me know and I'll meet up with you in the park.

I want to.

JH is the only ski area in north america I feel like a loser for never going to since I'm 27 and have skiied almost everywhere else big time on this continent. Gods country up there.

PS Montana got big respect from me last night at the NCAA basketball games in San Jose they had the hottest cheerleaders and dance team I have ever seen. Your stock is rising Montana.... (You put my school Syracuse to shame and I have an ex who was an SU cheerleade so I wouldn't say it if it wasn't a blatant punking.) In my book your hot cheerleaders made up for the team losing by 50 to us.

I think a lot of the pink names on this site are from Montana/WYO too and most seem pretty chill.

Good place. I want to go there.

Maybe next winter. Like I said hope to get there soon.

See Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone. When I went we almost skipped it and it ended up being my favorite thing there.
