So I have started school here at queen's and a month in I still haven't met a single person who is a fellow NSer or really gives a shit about skiing at all. The snow is coming soon and i'm dying here.

i was at queens on saturday for the open house. SOOOO many handrails/ urban i would like to hit one day.

Everyone dreams of hitting the railings at Stirling/Chernoff. So far I haven't seen it done...
I go to Queen's and there are actually quite a few ski nuts here, you just gotta look harder. I guess not as many are on NS though.
Are any of you going to be skiing at Batawa? It's in Trenton.. so it's an hour away. And I'm not sure what the park is like... but I will be instructing there this year so I'll keep you all updated as to the conditions/carpools?

Mike do you wanna actually meet up for some urbans this year? My housemate has a car now so I can actually get to most of these places. I'm also hoping to have a legit setup in my yard, involving a 20ft steel shotgun, a box or two maybe also. I'll let you know how it goes.
Let me know likewise. Also, I'm thinking of building a good size drop-in ramp, but I don't really have anywhere to build it now that there's snow on the ground and I can't exactly work outside. Is there any chance either you have any ideas/help? Mary? Question goes out to you too.

You're in eng right? Know anyone who's workin in a shop?I can probably convince my bro to help you out - I think he still has access to the Aero shop and his housemates are on the Baja team... you might be able to build something there. Or they'll at least enjoy helping design one haha.
Mike - I'll be instructing every Sunday, and possibly some night lessons when I have nothing better to do. Just give me a shout when you're goin, maybe work out some carpools - my WRX is a premium guzzler. I'll probably be carpooling with some of the ski patrollers too haha so.. It looks like there is goin to be no shortage of rides to good ol' Batawa.

I believe it is now the 19th - either way it has to open that weekend because Christmas camps start that weekend and I don't see them canceling.

Haha I know the feeling! I too drive a premium-only, and it's a bummer. Won't be too bad with a car full of gas-chippers though

I've only heard of one person hitting the stirling rail, he got rope towed behind a car to get enough speed. not much success on sliding the whole thing

we spent a lot of time driving around looking for potential setups. only ended up hitting two fairly mediocre handrails. So good luck!

oh and as far as finding a place to build, like mary mentioned the Baja team, or the concrete canoe team would be your best bet. concrete canoe has huge amount of space in the ILC and big garage doors so you won't have a problem bringing wood in/bringing your finished ramp out

hah thats one of the ones we did. Funny stuff, the security guard parked his car right by us and stopped for a while, watched us hit it a few times then rolled off.

As of yesterday, Batawa had a battleship box and a flat box out, set up side by side. I don't think we are going to get a jump... they are putting moguls in this week though. That's it =P

Park update: There is now a nice rail park at Batawa. 7 rails in the main park and one little one for learning at the bottom. There are a couple down rails, a flat box, battleship, super short wide box, and two kinks.

Batawa opened last weekend but suffered from some rain. I'll be there on Saturday for development day I think, so I'll report back with conditions... The rails will probably be put in over Christmas I'm thinking?

Mike did you end up hitting Batawa last year? I never saw you. I'll be teaching Saturdays this year, at least until Feb., then I might be switching to Sundays.
