Who else likes short skis for rails? Am I a minority?

For park/everything else skiing (I'm 5.7.5, 135 lbs) I use 09 blends in 178, so its by no means a small ski for me, but for rails I found that ski to be so unfun and boring. So I remounted my old 158 foils, and its soo much funner. There light and fun to hop around on. Anyone else prefer to use "skiblade" length skis for rails? The way I see it rail and especially urban skiing will progress just as snowboarding did; the boards became shorter and so will the skis.

it depends what kind of rail skiing you like. if your into spinny ballerina shit etc then yeah i guess. i personally dont like that stuff too much and prefer to do presses and taps and stuff, where long skis are definitely better

nope, i prefer long skis. and i do hoppy spinny ballerina shit and presses. 189 obsetheds omg they just kill it. able to spin on and off easily, i can pretzel, 360 switch up, and of course many k feds and britney bitches. also they are amazing for presses

i see what youre saying, but really short skis almost make it too easy. im 6'0 and i have an old pair of 158 scratches (the purple and blue ones) and i can 5 those fuckers on flat ground. haha thats getting to the point where its like your playing ping pong with a tennis racket, too easy.

by the way i normally ski 176 T-Halls and Elizabeths from last season. havent found better skis for rails, so much fun to ride.

fuck short skis, everyones style looks so much better with long skis, also you can do sicker stuff with em like tail taps and shit and it looks so much better

snowblades are finally dying off it looks like.

skiboards on the other hand are bigger then ever. you guys see the new condors ? 115cm waist ! shit. I rode them last year at jay peak and the floation was unreal.

snowboarders can sorta pull off the shorter board thing to work in their favor and some say u can trick out the rails easier but short skis just look funny

haha im 6' 200lb and i have some 161 foils i rock on hot sunny days, they do well in slush and ohh they are so fun in park. and they buttah like muthafuckas, great to learn hand drags.

i personally think short skis are for small people, and that anyone who isnt 12 should be on 170+. but thats just me, you look gaperish/ not cool on 160's.

im 6.1 and ride 165s.

i like it.

i should be riding around 180s, but when you think about it, that is 7.5 cms added to both tips. go get your rulers and you will notice that it is not very much...

you are not a minority, you are however an enormous homo

when you say funner, you clearly mean easier

dude ok, 158's aren't like snowblades on me, their around my mouth. and whats wrong with liking to have a light setup for rails? your very close minded.

I'm 5'3 and have invaders 161 idk if thats short...they kinda feel a bit short to me i guess, haven't ridden them yet.

and 164 which i think are just right.

i'm 5.6 and ski 161 thrusters they feel perfect for me i like them but i'm only a 100 pounds so i feel like if i went any longer on wouldn't be able to handle them.

Im 5' 8" 145 lbs and i ski 179s. so no i dont like short skis. Maybe for a backyard session. But i feel like a idiot on short skis. Style is so much better on long skis

i could care less how long my skis are, it's the weight that i care aobut. I have longer skis that are lightwer than my shorter skis and thye just feel better on rails.

haha i am same height, but 160 pounds, and have 161 flyers too

i normally ski 178 anthems, but i use the flyers for urban

im 5'5 and riding 155, they go up a little above my nose so there just a bit short but are fine. and there sick on rails

i've been using extremely short skis for all my backyard stuff over the summer (piece of crap elans lenght 148) and i was getting pretty tech, but i'm gonna feel super shitty with my 173's which are on the longish side, and i won't be getting the tricks anymore.....ggaaaahhh

I'm 5' 4" on 159 disorderly's. I would have gone bigger if they were like 161 or 163, but when i was in the shop standing on the 169, they felt uncomfortable.

I'm around 5'9-5'10 and I rode 161 invaders center mounted last year. I got a lot of shit for it by people on NS and at my mountian, I did'nt really feel comfortable outside of the park with them, not so much on jumps either. I guess on rails and boxes they were alright. This year I'm riding 171 anthems and so far I've only rode them for two days in my front yard this winter but they feel great. I agree with the other people that said long skis look a lot better too, things just look smoother and less snowbladey.

I dug out my 04/05 Teneighty's in 161 the other day. Super light and really fun.
And surprisingly still feel like a really good ski in the park even though they are old news

yeah i cant really say that i enjoy riding short skis/ski blades cause i love doing butters and presses and its so much better than using short skis, the only fun part about ski blades is when you take em out on a way shitty day to mess around on rails cause you can do carzy switchups like its nothing haha

so im 5'8 and normally ride a 170 and a 182. but my friend has a backyard set up and he was killing it on short skis. so i asked to borrow his 149 line invaders. so much fun! 360 switch ups and i could spin so fast on them!
