NEW IPHONE!!!!!

With GPS, the iPhone can do tracking. A pulsating dot is moving across the Google map as a car drives down Lombard street.11:38 amData from cell towers, WiFi networks, and now -- GPS.11:38 amGPS support now integrated into the iPhone.11:38 am3G has great battery life on iPhone. 300 hours of standby, 2G talk-time now has 10 hours (as opposed to 5), 5 hours of 3G talk-time (most phones only have 3 hour 3G talk time), 5 to 6 hours of high-speed browsing, 7 hours of video, 24 hours of audio.11:37 amNow demoing an email download. The email attachment took 5 seconds to download on 3G and 18 seconds on EDGE. 3 seconds on WiFi.11:36 am2.8X faster. Approaching WiFi speeds (WiFi scored 17 seconds). When compared to other 3G phones (Nokia N95 and Treo 750), the iPhone is 36% faster -- and better looking.11:35 amHow does the iPhone 3G tackle the challenges? 3G = faster data downloads, perfect for Safari and Mail. Comparing download speeds between 3G and EDGE. 3G finished in 21 seconds. EDGE finished in 59 seconds.11:33 amApple has learned so much with the first iPhone. They have taken everything they've learned and more and created the iPhone 3G. Even thinner, black plastic back, solid metal buttons, same gorgeous display, camera, flush headphone jack, and dramatically improved audio.11:32 amIntroducing the iPhone 3G.

I really wish they would have kept the silver metallic back. But I'm still going to be buying one. Price info is next.

Thats so stupid, how can you compare a phone (treo 750) that is over about two years old with a brand new phone..of course it will look better...lmao...plus, if its the same 3G network, how is one faster than the other (treo 750 is 3G)

Can anyone take a guess at why the max price around the world is $199 but in the U.S. the 16gb is $299? And all the figures are U.S. dollars so its not because of the exchange rate. I guess the phone companies could be subsidizing that but Jobs hasn't discussed that yet. Weird.

at&t pays the same price for the iphone that you (a customer) does..They make there money off of the monthy service fees. That's all i know.

All in all this could have been much more impressive. No upgrade to camera. Still no flash support. No ability to capture video. No MMS support. And I really wish they would have put out a 32gig model. But I will still probably be picking on up.

Until a way is found to jailbreak the new 3G (its much much harder than it used to be), I wouldnt reccomend buying it. The 3rd party apps are by far and wide the best reason to purchase an iphone. The whole new GPS on the 3G is especially funny considering Navizon released a GPS system like 6 months ago lmao. 3G networks also arent as extensive so if youre going to purchase one be sure you get 3G service in your area. Itll be super dope when someone jailbreaks it and gets all of the apps working though~

i hate and love apple. they come out with sutin better every month so its almost a waste of money to buy sutin from them but i also think they make the coolest things in the world

im all over that new iphone even though i just sold my old one

att has had gps for more than a year. Its not new. It may be new to iphone but not att Look up the BB curve, thats 3g with gps. also the bj2. before that was the bb8800. also the price plans went up for the new 3g phone..it will be ten bucks more than the current 2g phones. Also, about the pricing, that 199 and 299, ,you only get that price if you are able to get an upgrade. if not you have to add 175 to the price.. So really if you get it even at 199, after a two year contract your really paying more for the phone then the old one.

I still have a year left on my verizon contract.

and $60 or so a month is kind of ridiculous for service, especially as there's no option for competition on the iphone...... until it gets unlocked. but that's still shady.

isn't the instinct supposed to have some kind of thing where you actually feel the touchscreen, like it tingles or something?
