Who else hates the under armour ad as much as i do?

you guys are taking this waaaay too far.

i was saying the ad is stupid, nothing more.

they may have some not-so-appealing products, but like someone above said, theyre not marketing towards us. theyre marketing towards the weekend skiers from denver and the bay area and what not. they dont need our demographic.

i was merely saying how cheap and slapped together the ad looked. if we ban anything, lets ban Under Armour from placing ads for the next five years, or, until they come up with something that DOESNT look like it was assembled by an 8th grader with photoshop and a couple pictures.

like hottate said (who happens to be one of the more credible people on ns) dash will be putting input into design and other aspects, im sure in due time some sick shit will come from them.

they make good stuff. I have a nice under shirt from them, works great for skiing, specially in the BC. warm and dry. and dash is sick.

their offices are in Baltimore. and hold your judgements till next season, the stuff is completely different, and there's one thing under armour does, when they get into a sport they go full on, and actually spend money on it and sponsor events and such; which is something our own large companies slack on. you'll see. i really don't understand all the hate, all they've done is made some simple outerwear that's actually waterproof (cough*siver*cough) and have been making good baselayers.

orage makes nice stuff, there's no disputing that, but what have they done for the industry besides overcharge for outerwear? huh? they had one event, oh and lets see, they canceled it. thanks orage!

HAHA yea they are no saga or aeryx...they probably make better quality gear for cheaper! Some of these small outerwear companies make absolutely shit clothing and depend on their "coreness" to sell product. As much as I hate the big corporation, I hate people buying shitty products that are expensive because they are cool even more. The fact of the matter is Under Armor has been sponsoring skiers for years. Jeremy Bloom anyone. SKiers I included have known about the benefits of UA for years, the shit rocks ass as a base layer, and you can buy it anywhere. I wear a thin fucking shirt and a shell and I am never cold, it's amazing. So they are making outerwear now, com'on that orange jacket wouldn't look half bad in black. This isn't a fashion show, and UA does function really well. I guarantee in a year their jackets and pants will be great quality and will function flawlessly. They may never be cool on this site, but I guarantee their product will be legit.

O, also, their stock has treated well so sorry to anyone who missed that. Guess you can't recognize companies aimed for success when you see them.

I saw the ad and thought about how stupid it looks, and now theres a thread about it so apparently others agree.

The problem is, the ad has a 'tough', 'jock', 'I'm so big and manly I can beat the shit outa you' picture of but in the newschool skiing world, everyone just likes to act chill, relax and have fun. It is a complete opposite of sports like mainly football, but also baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. In sports like those theirs so much pressure, trash talk, and 'tough' attitudes that most skiers see through this and therefore look towards a sport like skiing for plain enjoyment and fun rather than to look tough. And therefore when some dumb 'jock' company tries to break into the newschool skiing market, they end up using the same marketing attitude used in other sport's ads, and eventually fail.

very well put, however if they change the tough jock appeareance, they might be able to put out a very high quality purchase

im interested in seeing what theyll change to the next couple of years

they had a banner ad on yahoo, with dash standing behind a football dude and some chick who looks like a figure skater, they all looked like their grandmother died. it was entirely ridiculous.

under armour's marketing ploys somehow end up working. i don't get it. we sell their stuff, polarmax, and patagonia capilene in the shop i work at. why anyone would buy under armour's spandex nutsack hugging uber-jock clothing over something from patagonia that's way more comfortable and performs better, i really do not know. patagonia's stuff is right on par with under armour's price wise, and patagonia does a ton to preserve the environment with recycling and conservation efforts, which helps to preserve the mountains that we all love to ski in.

-I think Dash rips, he can support who he wants

-I hate U A and what they support

-I think skiing is a push away from the "tough guy jock sport"

-thats y i love skiing cause its about having fun

-and i hate the tough guy jock sport

We will see. I have yet to see anything but ads, and nowhere on their site do they explain what the waterproofing is on their jackets.

i think under armor belongs under my outerwear.  hence the name.  it should stick to what it's good at, instead of trying to pioneer something that doesn't really need much improvement.

nothing beats the worst ad ever to appear in freeskier which is of course the gore-tex "brag or bail" ad... that ad sucks so much hahahah! It doesnt matter though those dudes make bank on that shit!!!
