Who doesn't drink?

Had a near death experience from drinkin and I haven't had a drink since. Prob cause the thought of goin through that again terrifies me

i dont during ski season... period ...and i try to avoid in the summer
alcohol is a poison ... i just smoke a lot of lah in the winter helps with the skiing.

it's fun, but i just never do it, last time i did was at my senior bash on the last day of school last year, and before that was probably the previous summer

so hardly ever

I don't drink, even though you only have to be 16 years old to buy and drink alcohol where i live. (I'm 17 years old.)

You're an idiot, and I'll tell you why.

You don't have to try something to know you don't like it, or to know its effects.

Case in point, "Suicide is a blast, hit that shit up"

Sometimes all it takes is a good anecdote to get you to try/not try something and develop feelings about it. Donuts for dimes says you know all about heroine and its effects. How do you know that your assumed knowledge matches up with truth?

Don't be so paranoid man.

Anyways, personally, I don't drink. I have addiction problems,a s well as health issues following concussions and other injuries.

A most heartfelt thanks to those of you that do though, you bring joy, laughter, and good stories to people everywhere.

im in what they call "recovery" but not for alcohol and i would still like to socially drink but they always say that once you have one addiction you really cant ever do something socially again... but maybe im hard headed but i hated drinking ( i mean i liked it but never wanted to do it all that often) and im 21 now so im assuming i will be just fine if i go to a bar or club every once and a while.... but we'll see how that goes.

i drink abut every weekend, ussually not much but enough to loosen up and have a good time, i dont drink when i go to big parties though, just when im with my bros.... come to think of it ive drank quite a bit the past three weeks...

just because a stack of kids on this site are super young and when they say they give up habits like drinking or drugs, they were never really 'habits' or 'addictions' to begin with..they just dabbled in certain substances here and there..

People throw around thsee words too easily, and i'm concerned when I read that 16, 17, 18 year olds are quitting drinking..hopefully nobody on this site has ever woken up in the morning and wanted to have a drink first thing.

Best case scenario is that either they never had a drinking problem in the first place, or they don't know what a drinking problem really is.

But teenage kids in this thread saying they are giving up drinking because they don't want to fuck their life, have no idea what they are talking about.

There is a significant difference between enjoying a beer every other day, and alcoholism

And this reply wasn't really directed at you specifically.

PM'd.im definitely not claiming to be an alcoholic and ive never even had a drinking problem.not drinking is purely a personal choice. never really enjoyed it that much.

I'm 21, in college, I drink 3ish days a week and get decent grades and I'm not addicted. I could go weeks without drinking and be unaffected. It's just fun as hell getting hammered.

alcoholism is mad weird.... with my type of person a dope fiend is a dope fiend.... has to get high when they wake up... gets high every 4 hours and gets maaaad dope sick blah blah blah but with alcoholics some of them dont even withdrawl.... and im not calling kid above me an alchy but some of them only drink 3ish times a week... it really is quite interesting.... i used to think alcoholics were not as H A R D C O R E as us addicts but man that alcohol shit is crazy and some counslers are more concern'd for an alchy than they are for a junkie.... its just the stigmas we attach to everything but some alcoholics only drink a few times a year but its that kid everyone knows taht cant just sit and get buzz'd but gets fucking blitz'd and blacks out everytime....

they say a binge drinker is someone who has 5 drinks in a 2 hours period.

I mean, nearly everyone I know goes out Thursday Friday Saturday nights given they don't have an exam to study for or an excess of work to do...and then you have your 50 pitchers on Tuesdays which you go to occasionally, dollar beer and dollar slice of pizza specials, etc. Alcoholism deals with people sometimes not being able to make it through the day without a drink, shaking if their blood lacks alcohol. They need it to function socially and they don't feel normal without a buzz. As far as college students are concerned, this describes very, very few of us. I don't need to drink to have fun, fit in or feel normal, I just enjoy doing so with my friends.
