Who doesn't drink?

i cant believe this thread has gone like this. respect to the kids that choose it for their own reasons and not being preachy about it.

but seriously....

i love to drink. im not going to get into my drinking habits but i dont have a problem. sometimes i drink tons, all the time, in the morning, night, when im skiing, when im out and about, and other times i dont drink at all for weeks (sometime months) at a time.

today for example, at mt. snow gaper day, i have been drinking since 11 am. and here i am, 26 or so drinks later?

anyhow, i await my judgement at the hands of my younger peers.

drinking age in nz is 18 but easily accesable to anyone over the age of 13, i was buying alx at 15... so i guess, its become our young culture to always have a brew in our hands, so yeah, i do

i usually dont drink monday and wednesday because i have classes the next morning, but i make up for it the other 5 nights

Have they not cracked down over there yet?

I remember I always used to get wasted at bars in England when I was like 14, and now I'm 20 and I go there and get carded. I figured the world is just going a little crazy.

na hell no. i went to school in auckland, and town was dominated by 16,17 and 18 yos... my older sister who was 20 would never go coz there were too many kids...

and parents buy their 14 yos drinks to take to other kids parties and shit, its just society these days

i dont. not because im a pussy or anything, i just dont like being drunk. getting baked is more my thing.

the funny thing to me with some of these response is people are saying they prefer to be high.

i must be old school. i really dont LOVE being high. i do love being buzzed.

i love to drink just enough that i'm real drunk but can still think and remember everything the next morning. On the other hand i hate drinking any more and i hate throwing up so much, ruins a good night and a good morning for me

yeah word, and if parents dont get it then everyone knows someone who knows someone who can get it. people keep threatning to change it but they've been saying that for years and sofar it hasn't changed

personaly, i think being drunk to the point where you are past tipsy but not feeling sick at all is the greatest feeling ever. im not an alcoholic, haha, id like to make that clear, and i love being in my normal state of mind and having fun more than anything (saying that my normal state of mind is pretty wierd...). im 17, and i used to smoke (weed) alot more than i do now, isnt reeaaally my thing, do it once in a while tho. ive also done shrooms twice, fun but again, once in a while. i really have ZERO ambition to do anything else, i dont know why, but whenever im offered ecstacy, acid or anything else (doesnt happen too much, dont have druggie friends or anything) i just say no, not cause im scared or anything, just dont want to. alcohol has its ups and downs, hangovers suck, but somtimes, waking up and seeing some horrid scene without anyone one being hurt is HILARIOUS.

i encourage anyone who hasnt drank before to grab several beers and try it out.

ONLY IF YOUR OF AGE!!! [

I don't look down on people who don't drink, but its a very social activity and really is fucking fun as shit. Getting to the perfect drunk is so fucking fun. Wow i sound like an alcoholic, or a college student.

the age definatly shouldnt be raised.... that would just create a trillion of problems, and wouldnt solve anything,... you cant go from an 18 year old binge drinker to be underaged and not alowed to buy it... wouldnt happen...

but for sure shit needs to happen to give the kids an alternative to drinking at a young age, little shits dont need booze to have fun!

haha man kids seem to be drinking younger and younger when I was at school it was like end of 4th form / 5th form. now kids are starting in 1st / 2nd.

and since when did 12 year olds have boobs? and who lets them have that much makeup? haha we had to drop my gfs little sister off to a dance last week, so many skanky 12year olds that looked like they'd pass for 16 or so. it was crazy

dude i know right, you remember seeing in the news the concerns of the amounts of 12 and 13 year old chicks going to get profesional brazilians and shit!? dude its getting crazy.. i saw these 12 yos with racks bigger than my 21yo sister and she aint that small! whats happening?!

nz'rs are totaly thread jacking this shit with our current affairs!

I think it depends on the culture as well

From what I can see, heaps of the members here are in social groups that smoke stacks of weed, whereas my society loves a beer.

hahaha word, someone should let these kids have a childhood for a while. on the other hand the 12year old guys must find it mad easy to get bitches haha

whos bankrollin these girls, like a brazillian aint cheap, bout $40-$60 usually. and anal bleaching haha who the fuck needs to bleach their asshole I laughed so hard when I heard you could have that done

yeaa nz invasion!

Here it's 18. there is quite an underage drinking culture where i'm from. Quite a few parents, (not mine) but a lot supply their kids with a six pack of premixed drinks to take to parties from 15. Most people around start drinking around 16 even though the legal age is 18. There is always someone in the group who has an older sibling or friend that will buy for them. I drink but only on occasion when I feel like. I've thrown up twice and that's not something i'm going to do anywhere soon I'm scalling back how much I drink because i've done some pretty stupid things. It's always okay to drink just know your limits and don't drink to much.

i feel theres better things to spend money on than booze and drugs and shit, like skiing or biking, and everyone in my family that drinks are really fucked people, so i look at them and think why the hell would i want to do that, my life is pretty good and happy right now, why do something that can fuck that up? esp something as stupid as drinking

I've tried drinking too, once again, I just don't drink. And I don't think people who don't drink are "retards" why the fuck does it matter if you can still have a good time with friends?

i go through phases sometimes i want to others i just dont its not a big deal at all anymore now that i am 21 its lost some of its appeal

see...i'm the oppisite on that...i haven't drank since november...and from november till april i smoked like twice a month...and then this last weekend was drink fest as 2 of my roomies birthdays were this weekend...and i concluded that being drunk is better than being high because when i'm high i get tired and lazy and eat all my food...when im drunk i want to go on an adventure.

ive never been absolutely wasted but i did used to drink and i made the choice to just stay mellow. my dad dropped out of college and was literally a bum with his friends, he was forced to join the army so he could buy himself food. he's been sober for almost twenty years now. i dont want to have my life like that.

ha i lol'd... im on the same page as you.

honestly, i respect anyone who decides not to drink in high school, but when it comes to college, my mom literaly told me like college is like the one time and place its ok to drink.

cause i can understand why a high schooler would chose not to drink, fuckin super risky Especially depending on you parents.

if it wasnt for beer and whiskey i never would have been able to write papers and speeches for my college classes

most of my favorite writers and historical figures have been balls-deep drunks.

i don't look down on people who choose not to drink, i do, however, look down on people who have never been drunk yet say they never will. don't be ignant.

Why would you look down on somebody else's choice? I've never been drunk and don't plan on ever getting drunk. There isn't anything about it that I find appealing. I don't look down on people that get drunk though and don't understand your reasoning for looking down those of us that make the choice not to.

I like having like 4-5 beers. It is a great way to loosen things up a bit. Plus I always seems to have a lot of fun when having a few drinks. But not being too drunk that you are puking and blacking out, only fun on occasion, like once every few months.

anyone that said they dont want to get drunk and never will who are still in highschool, that will probably change very fast if you go to college. your first month will be a daze.
I still drink at the moment and and dont plan on quitting anytime soon, but when people say they quit, its not cause they made a bad decision the night before. its usually when your in your mid 20's and getting drunk at a bar or party is just not fun anymore because theyve done it so many times, its the exact same thing evertyime, and it just gets old. And also theres a point where feeling good in the morning and waking up early is better than sleeping in hungover wasting the day away.

because how can you say you don't find being drunk appealing if you've never done it? perhaps i worded my first post wrong, i don't think less of you as a person, but i do look down on your decision. in my opinion if you don't have all the information you're not making a legitimate choice.

you only live once, don't cut yourself off, go out and try things. how can you face growing old without having sampled one of the most fundamental and common human experiences?

Thanks for clarifying. While I myself have never been drunk I have many friends that do and find their drunken behavior unappealing. I see how they act and make decisions when they're drunk and, frankly, don't want to end up in their drunken state. If I want to act foolish I want to on my own accord, not under the influence of anything.

I'm not saying I will never drink, just that I haven't yet and even if I eventually have one now and then, I don't plan on getting drunk. Perhaps I'm missing out on a fundamental and certainly common human experience, but it's an experience I'm ok living without.

I think its ok for kids to start drinking a little earlier like in highschool so they can learn to enjoy it. Kids who come to college and start drinking end up making asses of them selves.

Haha a true rastafarian. It's funny when guys like tanner play up the popular rasta views, but still get drunk at parties. I might drink at least a bit every night, but I don't think I would want to smoke weed every day even if I could. Just too much.
