Who deserves a Firsthand on Fuel?

Another post about Fuel TV got me thinking. As we know, they currently air very little skiing and almost no freestyle skiing. My guess is they don't believe it's marketable--that enough people would watch a whole series to justify giving that space to skiing and not surfing, skating, snowboarding, etc.

So here is my bright idea. Firsthand gets up close and personal with one athlete's daily life. To my knowledge, it has never covered a skier. If we, as a community, could get behind one athlete for Firsthand and demonstrate that skiers are a large and engaged audience, maybe we could get one episode, and in the process, demonstrate the potential for a whole series.

Personally, I think it needs to be an athlete that shows the best of what newschool skiing has to offer. Someone with an awesome personality who will be exciting to watch for 22 minutes and slays urban and backcountry--the kind of person even a SNOWBOARDER could love.

Who's it gonna be?
 
theyd have to cover it on someone famous like tanner hall or dumont because they are most known
 
i love how serious NS is, but they should get behind someone like Pep, Pollard, the guys that are trying to make a difference, or even I don't know maybe some of the fun guys like the dumont, pete o, and those folks, a firsthand would have been clutch if it had them followed into the playboy party
 
I ve posted on these fuckheads before. Basically "Skiing is not "cool" enough for Fuel tv to air." That statement came right from the programming directors mouth, after I personally hit him up about Fuel not showing enough freeride skiing. This was about 2 years ago...I ignore that channel all together now.

he's still basically unknown. i dont care if he's the pretzel man or w/e, im sick of everyone being on his dick. Now i'm not saying he's not good, but seriously, just stop sucking him off 24/7
 
Word, that be tits if a skier got on Firsthand. I emailed Fuel about putting more skiing instead of all the board sports, but I never heard anything back.
 
every one should email them and just flood them asking for a skiing show and if they see how many people are actually interested mabe they would do something
 
like he said maybe if we floud them with emails like saying why it we be good and how this is just as good as any other sport on that show....an i thinbk pollard, pep, tanner, or jon...because they are big inovaters and like started what we do now
 
we just need to get behind someone who represents skiing as a whole. not someone who is going to embarrass the entire community by acting like a big fag, if you've seen pop yer bottles you know the kind of people we dont need...ya thats right you know who i'm talking about.

I feel like Pollard would be the best/most passionate person to represent the sport from a core stand point. He (at least to me) represents the attitude and progression that the sport is after. He has been around for a while and is always ahead of the curve. From a commercial standpoint however (and thats exactly how fuel would look at it) it would have to be either Tanner or Dumont. Lets face it... names like Jon Olsson and Candide and Pep mean a lot to people in the skiing world but Tanner and Simon are really the only names that an average person who watches ESPN might know. (im sure a lot of people are going to disagree with that but in my experience its very true) Both Simon and Tanner are incredibly talented skiers. But Simon would be a far better representative for the sport. Tanner's persona already has this community split down the middle... half the people on here think that hes a douche and a pot head, the other half think hes a god... chances are he falls somewhere in between... but if he cause this much controversy within our community... how is he supposed to garner support from people on the outside who are already skeptical at best. Simon on the other hand is clean cut. He speaks pretty well. He's been philanthropic (he helps out at the Target House) and he doesn't have the same "punk" persona around him that Tanner does. So thats my case for getting behind Simon on this deal. He could get skiings name out there into the mainstream better than anyone else i can think of.

 
I dont know why you all like pollard. hes a lame ass artsy hippy and is boring to watch all he does is go backwards in flat powder slopes and he talks like a homo i couldnt stand watching him on a tv show
 
Pollard isn't boring to watch. He's just different than everyone else out there. He's not all about hucking sw1440's hes more into style and flow. His "Artsy"ness shows in his skiing. I actually think its cool to watch him ski because he will take a line and do something totally different with it than anyone else will. And last time i checked speaking intelligently does not mean that you speak like a homo. You couldn't stand watching on TV because you don't have enough brain power to understand what hes saying or apprciate a different style of skiing than what everyone else is doing.
