i think it was around 1995 i saw a home video of mike nick and friends doing 540s and switch takeoffs. this was before he made the skiblades, so where did they get twins from?

does anyone know the history?

Check the Freeskier buyers guide, it has a timeline.

I remember a thread like this where they tried to find the oldest pair of twin-tips... I think it was like back in the 1800's with ski patrol men.

my dad has a pair of olin mark IV theyre huge like 210 and theyre heavy as fuck but the bindings dont even have brakes on um

"if all your friends jumped off a clif would you?" -my mom "i would if there was snow on it" -me

the olinn mark IV, but I think that way back in the wooden ski day there were some cats rocking the 8 foot long twins......

" I see you've played knifey spoony before"

yes olin made an unintentional twin tip. They had no idea and neither did anyone else.

My friends Josh Frazier and Grif Cummings of mt. hood made one of if not The First twin tip ski. It was a peice of bent metal that was screwed to the top sheet and then the ski was heated up and bent to fit the metal. Then the "tip" was screwed to the metal to keep it from delaming. They made this because they were sick of digging the tails in upon landing switch at summer camps. They called it "Solution". Pollards skis from back in the day (9th grade) are now on the wall at the Rat Skeller in Govt camp.

I dated a girl who is 30. It works out fine till the bio clock starts waging internal warfare on her inner psychi and makes her crave children like no other. Then all of a sudden you're like, "holy shit, this is no bueno." -JackBach

^^lines, salomon and rossi all put out twins the same year.

K2 made a twin called the poacher the year before, but it was never made available to the public.

The Olin Mark whatever was the first ski that had a semi twin and was center mounted. some old guy that taught me how to tune skis and fill ptex and sometimes I ski with was one of the poeple who worked on developing that ski.

^the poachers werebfor sale in VT ski shops in 1997...that year i had a pair of elan scx "parabolics" we skied them with no poles and would do small 180s and step down tables at sugerbush

^ now thats progressive

Not only is this guy right, but Freeze wrote an article where this was talked about including the mention of Josh and Griffin.

^it was funny cause my brother went from learning the basics on those skis and was then put on the salomon bloade team in 1998...he got to go to the first three x-games, funny shit we made fun of him for it..but the dude is one of the best bigmountain killers out there...just the teenage blading career was funny

The first twins were some old wooden ones made in the 1920's/30's or something like that. It doens't matter what year, they are just old. FREEZE wrote the article. It also said theat you could still see people using them in winter park in the 60's/70's. They just didn't catch on.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

Olin twins weren't "unintentional". People did ski fakie in the old days. They also did funny little tricks and spins and it was called "ballet" skiing. A couple of other companies made "unitentional" twins, too, like Kastle. Not really like the twins we have now, but just as intentional as anything from Line or Armada.

It's called skiing, stupid.
