Im going to school next year right outside of lake placid, i was wondering if anyone skis at whiteface, im feeling pretty sketchy on there being a good crew of skiers up there...

 
i live in new york about 5 hours from placid tho

what are you talking about^okemo,stratton,and mount snow are the only mountains with better parks in vermont..whiteface has a good park and ski good hits..youll have fun and they have some fucking awesome skiers

 
hey man who cares if theirs a good crew, you can start one and be the best skiier out there.

yeah, whiteface had 2 or 3 nice little parks this year, and i was there on probaly the shittiest day all year, end of january

depierre....I didn't say that there were better parks in VT other than the ones listed, i just said compared to good parks in VT...and those are good parks in vermont. So my statement stands....the park at whiteface is not nearly as good as a good vt park

refer to it as Iceface, not whiteface. I don't like it; too bad its the closest decent place to school.

i went to white face a few years ago it was kickass especially if you like steeps and long runs i dont know what the park looks like nowadays

I guess it is all relative. For new york state it is good, but if you've skied Mad River Glen or any good terrain in vermont, or anywhere out west, its hard (for me at least) to really like Whiteface.

i've been going to whiteface for the past 6yrs during x-mas break. the guy who renamed the mountain to *iceface* is totally right cause the steeps get nice and icy.

the park ain't really good (not when i was there atleast) but its a great place to practice skiing on ice steeps, if thats wat yur into.

nice mountain...sick town...probably a nice place to start up a ski crew

Pipe was not on par with the pipes from killy, stratton, okemo, etc in my opinion, but I didn't ski it too much so it may have been a few bad says I saw it.

it beats western ny but western ny is really getting better...labrador has sick rails and a well cut pipe and holiday has some god rails....bristol is stepping it up from previous years

dont go to new york. all it has to offer is i love ny stickers
 
whiteface. ill be there this weeknd it think, or doing a rail session there with my bro and soem kid that he knows up there. but yea its always iCy unless you get to sneek into the slides. but yea get a pass if your a student there like 200 i think.

i was just up there last winter, the park isnt anything great, one or two good hits, theres a few parks but only one of them deserves to be called a park. The one park is like on a trail that windes around the mountain and like you have no time to land,,, half pipe sucks dick,, rails are ok..its a 5 out of 10

I heard there is risk of avalanche at whiteface. Is this true and are there any other resorts in the east that have avalanches?

 
^avalanche risk? Minimal if at all existent. As for the rest of whiteface... Things are awesome some days, other's they suck. Hopefully we just get a lot more snow this year. Been skiing there 40+ days/yr for about 6 years. I like it.

Whiteface is and icy place, and in the park there was like tumbleweeds rollin by me, it was a ghost town, I left cause it felt haunted
