Whitefish Mountain Resort Conditions

I hiked up the mountain yesterday and I'm pretty worried that they won't be able to open on the third. The top half of the mountain was good with over a foot of powder but further down it become solid ice. There is a ton of grass visible and there are many bushes still uncovered with snow.

I hope we can get some more snow this week so they can open on Saturday!
 
Do they have the snow guns running? If so, then you'll be fine.

They normally fill the lower halves of Momentum and the Ravine so you get down off of the front without having to download. You will at least have Easy Street to get down.

The front is always slow to build it's base due to it's south facing slopes, the backside is where it is at and will be for a few weeks.
 
Yeah I guess they will probably get a way down the bottom of the front side because the top already has some great snow.
 
UPDATE! Unfortunately it's not good news. They say that they will try to get chair 7 and chair 3 going by Saturday but it might not happen. Aren't we supposed to be having a la nina!?!

a lot of times if there isn't snow, they'll just open up some runs on the backside and download down the front. i suspect this could happen this year. and don't worry, the pow will come (ideally before i'm back for xmas).
