Whiteface vs. Jay

OMFG i took a trip to jay and like stayed over night. It was a waste of my life. Whiteface sometimes gets a little crappier weather but its way better. Jay jus all around sux. No jumps jus like a few rails. Jus stick to whiteface they are reliable for park and they get some pow every once and a while

Had The Sauver Big 7 pass last year got to ski Jay a bunch, there park is mad lame, Loved Jay because there were Moguls everywhere, Straight lined the Jet after it was groomed one morning scary fast

im really surprised, but happy to see that everyone is givng props and support to dubface..

but from what everyone has said so far:

Jay- more powder than whiteface. shit park. not always reliable. longer drive for most people. more expensive apss i believe. more glades to ski

Whiteface - steeper, more challenging terrain. good powder when we have it. much sicker park. huge pipe. has The Slides for spring skiing, that will challenge you. new terrain will be sick. and when its icy just go straight... its fun, youll learn to like it.

word except i got my jay pass cheaper than my face pass last year

slides are rarely open at whiteface

but i am stoked for the new terrain opening up, maybe it will be less icy

Yeah, the whiteface pass for teens is 335 until November, for a Whiteface/Gore full holiday pass, that isn't too bad. And the slides are usually only open during the spring skiing, but are really sick when they are open. I've only skied 1-4, anyone here skied 5?

nope. ive only skiied 1 and 2. but it was in mid march with all powder believe it or not. it was all good until you hit the fuckin frozen waterfall.. but the new tripple lift going to the new peak, is providing better access to slides 5 and 6. so, they shoutl be a lot easier to reach

Word, I'm so stoked on all the new glades that are going to be coming off that lift. Should make for some excellent tree skiing this winter.

having acess to a topo map is sick if you over lay them that is a steep as balls area with lots of cliff bands HELLLLAA STOKED!

yeah i agree, not worth the extra drive.

but there are "ski northeast" or "northeast ski" maps that my shop gives out, and it has buy 1 get 1 tickets to jay, gore, and some other places. so id say try to find some of those, go with a buddy and then you have 2 $23 tickets instead of a $45 ticket.

so basically get a whiteface pass. it has good all mtn skiing, a really under rated park, and its closer. so like what snwbrdmilf said, make it an occassion and take some midweek trips there for epic pow days.

and for gore, their putting in 3 or 4 new trails, a few glades, and a lift. eventually their going to expand that to the ski bowl, their putting in a shitton of high class hotels and condos, a golf course, some condos on the north creek airstrip for the richards to fly their planes right to their font door.

the orange is the new stuff for next season thats already there

and this is the proposed plans for the skibowl.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fuck ... I hope there'll still be those buses that go to Jay for 15 bucks

anyway Jay sucks ass, I only go there for ice skating in the parking lot

Please note: As a result of the sale, we are no longer offering All Access season passes that allow access to Mont St. Sauveur and its affiliated mountains.

that really sucks. there were so many people from st.sauveur that went to jay

i say you're crazy. id rather go to hunter/windham and save the gas. or go to okemo/killington and enjoy get a better cross of snow and difficulty. doesnt it suck living in jersey where u have to drive ages to ski anywhere?

be that as it may, id ski jay over pretty much everywhere in the east

^but if you really love skiing, you would be willing to sacrifice the extra time and gas to go to a sicker mountain..

I'd find a local hill with a decent park for the majority of skiing, and then do a bunch of trips to Jay for powder.

There has got to be something somewhat acceptable within an hour radius that would keep you entertained and hold you over between the good trips.

168 inches of snow! burlington vermont got more than that this year.

we got more than that in 25 days....... january 5th-january 30th

skiing is about the snow. thats jay peaks slogan "its all about the snow"

I live right next to the face and i go most weeekends, and it's not worth it at all during january and february, it's too cold and the wind takes all the snow off the mountain leaving mostly ice, but the park was pretty decent this year, and it should keep getting better over the next few. but like others said whiteface is expanding and adding another peak called lookout bringing the grand total to 3, hopefully it won't be as windy on lookout, and lookout mtn should have some sik new glades. so it's worth it to got to whiteface in the early and late season when it's warmer, and even the cold months are somewhat tolerable. and especially with gas being so high right meow, i'd take the shorter drive and go to THE FACE

yup
it suks real bad living in dirty jerzzz
but i cant drive so my dad pays for the gas and drives up while i sleep the whole way
and its pretty cheap to rent a house for the whole seaosn so we ski alot more.
